Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.
»In einem Land wie diesem sollst du nicht heiraten und keine Kinder haben!
For thus saith the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;
Denn höre, was ich über die Kinder sage, die hier geboren werden, und über ihre Mütter und Väter:
They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
An unheilbaren Krankheiten werden sie sterben, niemand wird um sie trauern und sie begraben — sie bleiben wie Dünger auf der Erde liegen. Durch Krieg und Hunger kommen sie um, Vögel und wilde Tiere werden ihre Leichen fressen.
For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.
Ich, der HERR, sage dir: Betritt kein Trauerhaus, sprich niemandem dein Beileid aus und trauere nicht mit ihnen! Denn ich habe meinen Frieden von diesem Volk genommen, ich habe ihnen meine Gnade und Liebe entzogen.
Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:
Reiche und Arme werden hier sterben, doch niemand wird sie begraben, keiner wird sich aus Trauer um sie die Haut einritzen oder den Kopf kahl scheren.
Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
Und wenn jemand Vater oder Mutter verloren hat, so wird man nicht einmal mit ihm essen und trinken, um ihn zu trösten.
Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
Betritt auch kein Haus, in dem ein Fest gefeiert wird, setz dich nicht zu den Gästen, um mit ihnen zu essen und zu trinken!
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
Denn ich, der HERR, der allmächtige Gott Israels, sage: Ich bereite hier allem Jubel und aller Freude ein Ende, es wird auch keine fröhlichen Hochzeitsfeiern mehr geben. Vor euren Augen wird das geschehen, ihr werdet es selbst erleben!
And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?
Wenn du ihnen dies verkündigt hast, werden sie fragen: ›Warum spricht der HERR dieses harte Urteil über uns? Was haben wir getan? Womit haben wir gegen den HERRN, unseren Gott, gesündigt?‹
Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
Dann antworte: ›Schon eure Vorfahren haben mich, den HERRN, verlassen; anderen Göttern liefen sie nach, sie dienten ihnen und warfen sich vor ihnen nieder. Von mir wollten sie nichts mehr wissen, meine Gebote waren ihnen gleichgültig.
And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:
Und ihr treibt es noch schlimmer als sie! Keiner von euch will auf mich hören, jeder tut, was sein böses und eigensinniges Herz ihm eingibt.
Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.
Darum jage ich euch fort aus eurer Heimat in ein Land, in dem weder ihr noch eure Vorfahren je gewesen seid. Dort müsst ihr Tag und Nacht fremden Göttern dienen, denn ich werde euch nicht mehr gnädig sein.‹«
God will Restore Israel
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

»So spricht der HERR: Es kommt die Zeit, da wird man beim Schwören nicht mehr sagen: ›So wahr der HERR lebt, der Israel aus Ägypten geführt hat‹,
But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.
sondern: ›So wahr der HERR lebt, der Israel aus dem Land im Norden zurückgebracht hat und aus allen anderen Ländern, in die er sie vertrieb.‹ Ja, ich werde sie wieder in ihre Heimat bringen, in das Land, das ich ihren Vorfahren geschenkt habe.
Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
Aber jetzt schicke ich, der HERR, viele Fischer los, die mein Volk fangen sollen; danach lasse ich viele Jäger kommen, damit sie mein Volk auf allen Bergen und Hügeln jagen und sie aus jedem Felsversteck hervorholen.
For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.
Denn ich sehe alles, was sie tun, sie können sich nicht vor mir verbergen. Ihre Schuld liegt offen vor mir.
And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.
Nun lasse ich sie voll und ganz dafür büßen, keine ihrer Sünden bleibt ungestraft. Denn sie haben mein Land mit ihren leblosen Götzenstatuen entweiht und überall ihre abscheulichen Figuren aufgestellt.«
O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
HERR, du bist meine Stärke und mein Schutz! In der Bedrängnis fliehe ich zu dir. Auch die fremden Völker aus aller Welt werden zu dir kommen und bekennen: »Unsere Vorfahren dienten wertlosen Götzen, die nicht helfen können und ein großer Betrug sind.
Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?
Kann ein Mensch sich überhaupt selbst Götter machen? Sie können doch niemals echte Götter sein!«
Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
»Ja«, antwortete der Herr, »diesmal lasse ich die Völker meine Macht erfahren! Ich führe ihnen meine Stärke vor Augen, damit sie erkennen, dass ich allein der HERR bin.«
