The Valley of Dry Bones
The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

Die Hand des HERRN legte sich auf mich und er brachte mich im Geist des HERRN hinaus und versetzte mich mitten in die Ebene. Sie war voll von Gebeinen.
And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
Er führte mich ringsum an ihnen vorüber und siehe, es waren sehr viele über die Ebene hin; und siehe, sie waren ganz ausgetrocknet.
And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.
Er fragte mich: Menschensohn, können diese Gebeine wieder lebendig werden? Ich antwortete: GOTT und Herr, du weißt es.
Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.
Da sagte er zu mir: Sprich als Prophet über diese Gebeine, und sag zu ihnen: Ihr ausgetrockneten Gebeine hört das Wort des HERRN!
Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
So spricht GOTT, der Herr, zu diesen Gebeinen: Siehe, ich selbst bringe Geist in euch, dann werdet ihr lebendig.
And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
Ich gebe euch Sehnen, umgebe euch mit Fleisch und überziehe euch mit Haut; ich gebe Geist in euch, sodass ihr lebendig werdet. Dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin.
So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
Da sprach ich als Prophet, wie mir befohlen war; und noch während ich prophetisch redete, war da ein Geräusch: Und siehe, ein Beben: Die Gebeine rückten zusammen, Bein an Bein.
And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
Und als ich hinsah, siehe, da waren Sehnen auf ihnen, Fleisch umgab sie und Haut überzog sie von oben. Aber es war kein Geist in ihnen.
Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
Da sagte er zu mir: Rede als Prophet zum Geist, rede prophetisch, Menschensohn, sag zum Geist: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Geist, komm herbei von den vier Winden! Hauch diese Erschlagenen an, damit sie lebendig werden!
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
Da sprach ich als Prophet, wie er mir befohlen hatte, und es kam der Geist in sie. Sie wurden lebendig und sie stellten sich auf ihre Füße — ein großes, gewaltiges Heer.
The Vision Explained
Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

Er sagte zu mir: Menschensohn, diese Gebeine sind das ganze Haus Israel. Siehe, sie sagen: Ausgetrocknet sind unsere Gebeine, unsere Hoffnung ist untergegangen, wir sind abgeschnitten.
Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.
Deshalb tritt als Prophet auf und sag zu ihnen: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Siehe, ich öffne eure Gräber und hole euch, mein Volk, aus euren Gräbern herauf. Ich bringe euch zum Ackerboden Israels.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich eure Gräber öffne und euch, mein Volk, aus euren Gräbern heraufhole.
And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
Ich gebe meinen Geist in euch, dann werdet ihr lebendig und ich versetze euch wieder auf euren Ackerboden. Dann werdet ihr erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. Ich habe gesprochen und ich führe es aus — Spruch des HERRN.
One Nation with One King
The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

Das Wort des HERRN erging an mich:
Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
Du, Menschensohn, nimm dir ein Holz und schreib darauf: Juda und die mit ihm verbündeten Israeliten! Dann nimm dir ein anderes Holz und schreib darauf: Josef, Holz Efraims, und das ganze mit ihm verbündete Haus Israel!
And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
Dann füge sie dir, eins zum anderen, zu einem einzigen Holz zusammen, sodass sie eins werden in deiner Hand!
And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
Und wenn die Söhne deines Volkes dich fragen: Willst du uns nicht erklären, was du da hast?,
Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.
dann antworte ihnen: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Siehe, ich, ja ich nehme das Holz Josefs, das in der Hand Efraims ist, und der mit ihm verbündeten Stämme Israels und gebe es auf das Holz Judas. Ich mache sie zu einem einzigen Holz und sie werden eins in meiner Hand.
And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.
Die Hölzer, auf die du geschrieben hast, sollst du vor ihren Augen in deiner Hand halten.
And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
Dann sag zu ihnen: So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Siehe, ich, ja ich nehme die Söhne Israels aus den Nationen heraus, wohin sie gegangen sind; ich sammle sie von allen Seiten und bringe sie auf ihren Ackerboden.
And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
Ich mache sie im Land, auf den Bergen Israels, zu einer einzigen Nation. Und ein einziger König soll König für sie alle sein. Sie werden nicht länger zwei Nationen sein und sich nie mehr in zwei Königreiche teilen.
Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
Sie werden sich nicht mehr unrein machen durch ihre Götzen und Gräuel und durch all ihre Untaten. Ich befreie sie von aller Sünde, die sie in ihrer Untreue begangen haben, und ich mache sie rein. Dann werden sie mir Volk sein und ich, ich werde ihnen Gott sein.
And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
Mein Knecht David wird König über sie sein und sie werden alle einen einzigen Hirten haben. Sie werden meinen Rechtsentscheiden folgen und auf meine Satzungen achten und nach ihnen handeln.
And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
Sie werden in dem Land wohnen, das ich meinem Knecht Jakob gegeben habe und in dem eure Väter gewohnt haben. Sie und ihre Kinder und Kindeskinder werden auf ewig darin wohnen und mein Knecht David wird auf ewig ihr Fürst sein.
Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
Ich schließe mit ihnen einen Friedensbund; es soll ein ewiger Bund mit ihnen sein. Ich werde sie aufrichten und zahlreich machen. Ich werde mitten unter ihnen auf ewig mein Heiligtum errichten
My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
und über ihnen wird meine Wohnung sein. Ich werde ihnen Gott sein und sie, sie werden mir Volk sein.
