Vision of Idolatry in the Temple
And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.

Es geschah im sechsten Jahr, am fünften Tag des sechsten Monats. Ich saß in meinem Haus und die Ältesten Judas saßen vor mir. Da fiel auf mich die Hand GOTTES, des Herrn.
Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.
Und ich schaute und siehe: Da war eine Gestalt, die das Aussehen eines Mannes hatte. Abwärts von dem, was aussah wie seine Hüfte, war Feuer und von seinen Hüften an aufwärts sah es aus wie Lichtglanz, wie der Anblick von glänzendem Metall.
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
Er streckte etwas aus, das wie eine Hand aussah, und nahm mich beim Schopf meines Hauptes. Geist hob mich empor zwischen Erde und Himmel und brachte mich in einer göttlichen Vision nach Jerusalem, an den Eingang des inneren Nordtors, dorthin, wo die Bildsäule der Eifersucht steht, die des HERRN Eifersucht erregt.
And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.
Und siehe: Dort war die Herrlichkeit des Gottes Israels. Sie sah aus wie das, was ich in der Ebene geschaut hatte.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
Er sagte zu mir: Menschensohn, erhebe doch deine Augen nordwärts! Ich erhob meine Augen nordwärts und siehe: Nördlich des Tores war der Altar, jene Bildsäule der Eifersucht war im Durchgang.
He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.
Er sagte zu mir: Menschensohn, siehst du, was diese tun? Die großen Gräueltaten, die das Haus Israel hier begeht, da sie sich von meinem Heiligtum abwenden? Aber du wirst noch größere Gräueltaten sehen.
And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.
Dann brachte er mich zum Eingang des Vorhofs. Und ich schaute und siehe: Ein Loch war in der Wand.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.
Er sagte zu mir: Menschensohn, durchbrich die Wand! Ich durchbrach die Wand und siehe, da war ein einziger Eingang.
And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.
Und er sagte zu mir: Geh hinein, sieh dir die schlimmen Gräueltaten an, die sie hier begehen!
So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.
Da ging ich hinein und schaute und siehe: allerlei Bildnis von Gewürm und Vieh, ein Gräuel und allerlei Götzen des Hauses Israel, eingeritzt in die Wand ringsum überall.
And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.
Und siebzig Männer von den Ältesten des Hauses Israel standen davor — auch Jaasanja, der Sohn Schafans, stand bei ihnen. Jeder hatte seine Räucherpfanne in seiner Hand und der Duft der Weihrauchwolke stieg empor.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.
Er sagte zu mir: Hast du gesehen, Menschensohn, was die Ältesten des Hauses Israel im Finstern treiben, jeder in der Kammer seines Götterbildes? Sie sagen: Der HERR, der uns sieht, ist nicht da; der HERR hat das Land verlassen.
He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.
Er sagte zu mir: Du wirst noch weitere, größere Gräuel sehen, die sie begehen.
Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD'S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
Dann brachte er mich zum Eingang des Tores am Haus des HERRN, das nach Norden geht. Und siehe, dort saßen Frauen, die Tammus beweinten.
Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.
Und er sprach zu mir: Hast du es gesehen, Menschensohn? Doch du wirst noch mehr Gräuel sehen, größere als diese.
And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.
Dann brachte er mich zum Innenhof des Hauses des HERRN. Am Eingang zum Tempel des HERRN, zwischen Vorhalle und Altar, standen etwa fünfundzwanzig Männer, mit dem Rücken zum Tempel des HERRN, mit dem Gesicht nach Osten. Sie beteten, nach Osten gewandt, die Sonne an.
Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.
Er sagte zu mir: Hast du es gesehen, Menschensohn? Waren dem Haus Juda die Gräueltaten, die sie hier begingen, immer noch nicht genug? Mussten sie auch noch das Land mit Gewalttat anfüllen, mussten sie mich immer wieder beleidigen und sich die Weinranke an die Nase halten?
Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
Ich, ja ich werde voll Zorn handeln. Mein Auge wird kein Mitleid zeigen und ich werde keine Schonung üben. Selbst wenn sie mir laut in die Ohren schreien, ich werde sie nicht hören.
