God's Charges against Israel
Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

Hört das Wort des HERRN, ihr Söhne Israels! Denn der HERR verklagt die Bewohner des Landes: Es gibt keine Treue und keine Liebe und keine Gotteserkenntnis im Land.
By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
Nein, Fluch, Lüge, Mord, Diebstahl und Ehebruch machen sich bereit, Bluttat reiht sich an Bluttat.
Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
Darum soll das Land verdorren, alle seine Bewohner sollen verwelken, samt den Tieren des Feldes und den Vögeln des Himmels; auch die Fische im Meer sollen zugrunde gehen.
Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
Doch niemand soll verklagen und niemand soll andere zur Rechenschaft ziehen! Ja, dein Volk ist wie jene, die den Priester verklagen.
Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
Am helllichten Tag kommst du zu Fall und ebenso wie du stürzt in der Nacht der Prophet. Auch deine Mutter lasse ich umkommen.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
Mein Volk kommt um, weil ihm die Erkenntnis fehlt. Weil du die Erkenntnis verworfen hast, darum verwerfe auch ich dich, sodass du nicht mehr als Priester für mich wirken kannst. Du hast die Weisung deines Gottes vergessen; darum vergesse auch ich deine Söhne.
As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
Je mehr sie wurden, umso mehr sündigten sie gegen mich. Ihre Ehre werde ich eintauschen gegen Schande.
They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
Sie ernähren sich von der Sünde meines Volkes und sind gierig nach seinen Verbrechen.
And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
Darum wird es wie dem Volk so dem Priester ergehen: Ihn suche ich heim für sein Verhalten, seine Taten vergelte ich ihm.
For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.
Sie werden essen, doch sie werden nicht satt, sie treiben Unzucht, doch sie vermehren sich nicht. Ja, sie haben den HERRN verlassen, um sich an Unzucht zu halten.
Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
Wein und Most rauben meinem Volk den Verstand:
My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
Es befragt sein Holz und sein Stock soll ihm Auskunft geben. Ja, der Geist der Unzucht führt es irre. Unzucht haben sie getrieben und ihren Gott verlassen.
They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
Sie feiern Schlachtopfer auf den Höhen der Berge, auf den Hügeln bringen sie Räucheropfer dar, unter Terebinthen, Storaxbäumen und Eichen — ihr Schatten ist ja so angenehm. Darum treiben eure Töchter Unzucht und eure Schwiegertöchter Ehebruch.
I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
Aber ich suche eure Töchter nicht dafür heim, dass sie Unzucht treiben, und nicht eure Schwiegertöchter dafür, dass sie die Ehe brechen; denn sie selbst gehen mit den Dirnen beiseite, mit den geweihten Frauen bringen sie Schlachtopfer dar. So stürzt das unwissende Volk ins Verderben.
Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.
Auch wenn du, Israel, Unzucht treibst, so soll sich doch Juda nicht schuldig machen. Kommt nicht nach Gilgal, zieht nicht nach Bet-Awen hinauf! Schwört nicht: So wahr der HERR lebt!
For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
Ja, Israel ist störrisch geworden wie eine störrische Kuh. Und jetzt sollte der HERR sie weiden wie Lämmer auf weiter Flur?
Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
Efraim ist mit den Götzen verbündet. Lass ihn gewähren!
Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
Ist ihre Zecherei zu Ende, treiben sie Unzucht noch und noch: Sie entbrennen vor Liebe zu ihr, deren Schilde eine Schande sind.
