Denn von Israel kommt es: Ein Handwerker hat es gemacht — ein Gott ist es nicht. Ja, zu Splittern soll es werden, das Kalb von Samaria.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
Denn Wind säen sie und ernten Sturm. Ein Halm ohne Ähren bringt kein Mehl. Und wenn er es brächte — verschlingen würden es Fremde.
Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
Israel ist schon verschlungen. Jetzt ist es unter den Völkern wie ein Ding, an dem niemand Gefallen hat.
For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
Israel hat seinen Schöpfer vergessen und Paläste gebaut, Juda hat viele befestigte Städte errichtet. Doch ich sende Feuer in seine Städte; es soll seine Prachtbauten verzehren.
