Witnesses against Israel
Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

Hört dieses Wort, das der HERR gesprochen hat über euch, ihr Söhne Israels, über den ganzen Stamm, den ich aus Ägypten heraufgeführt habe.
You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
Nur euch habe ich erkannt unter allen Stämmen der Erde; darum suche ich euch heim für alle eure Vergehen.
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Gehen zwei miteinander, ohne dass sie sich verabredet haben?
Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?
Brüllt der Löwe im Wald und er hat keine Beute? Gibt der junge Löwe Laut in seinem Versteck, ohne dass er einen Fang getan hat?
Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?
Fällt ein Vogel zur Erde, wenn niemand nach ihm gewor- fen hat? Springt die Klappfalle vom Boden auf, wenn sie nichts gefan- gen hat?
Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Bläst in der Stadt jemand ins Horn, ohne dass das Volk erschrickt? Geschieht ein Unglück in der Stadt, ohne dass der HERR es bewirkt hat?
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Nichts tut GOTT, der Herr, ohne dass er seinen Knechten, den Propheten, zuvor seinen Ratschluss offenbart hat.
The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?
Der Löwe brüllt — wer fürchtet sich nicht? GOTT, der Herr, hat geredet — wer wird da nicht zum Propheten?
Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.
Ruft es aus über den Palästen von Aschdod und über den Palästen in Ägypten! Sagt: Versammelt euch auf den Bergen von Samaria, seht das wilde Treiben in ihrer Mitte und die Unterdrückung in ihrem Innern!
For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.
Sie kennen die Rechtschaffenheit nicht — Spruch des HERRN — , sie häufen Gewalt und Unterdrückung in ihren Palästen auf.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
Darum — so spricht GOTT, der Herr: Ein Feind wird das Land umzingeln; er wird deine Macht niederreißen und deine Paläste werden geplündert.
Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.
So spricht der HERR: Wie ein Hirt aus dem Rachen des Löwen nur noch zwei Wadenknochen rettet oder den Zipfel eines Ohres, so werden Israels Söhne gerettet, die in Samaria auf ihrem Diwan sitzen und auf ihren Polstern aus Damast.
Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,
Hört und bezeugt es dem Haus Jakob — Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn, des Gottes der Heerscharen:
That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
Ja, an dem Tag, an dem ich Israel für seine Verbrechen heimsuche, werde ich die Altäre von Bet-El heimsuchen; die Hörner des Altars werden abgehauen und fallen zu Boden.
And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
Ich zerschlage den Winterpalast und den Sommerpalast, die Elfenbeinhäuser werden verschwinden und mit den vielen Häusern ist es zu Ende — Spruch des HERRN.
