Vision des Obadja EDOMS DEMÜTIGUNG: 1–7 So spricht GOTT, der Herr, zu Edom: Gehört haben wir eine Kunde vom HERRN und ein Bote wurde gesandt zu den Völkern. Steht auf, wir wollen aufstehen zum Krieg gegen es!
Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.
Siehe, ich mache dich klein unter den Völkern, du wirst tief verachtet sein.
The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
Hochmut deines Herzens hat dich betört, der du wohnst in Felsenklüften; in der Höhe ist sein Sitz, der in seinem Herzen spricht: Wer stürzt mich hinab?
Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
Erhebst du dich auch wie der Adler und baust dein Nest zwischen den Sternen, ich stürze dich von dort hinab — Spruch des HERRN.
If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
Wenn Diebe zu dir kommen, wenn Räuber des Nachts, wie bist du verloren! Stehlen sie nicht genug? Wenn Winzer zu dir kommen, lassen sie etwa eine Nachlese zurück?
How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!
Wie werden sie Esau durchsuchen, durchstöbern seine Verstecke?
All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
Bis zur Grenze treiben sie dich, alle deine Bundesgenossen, sie betrügen dich, sie überwältigen dich, die Männer, die mit dir Frieden geschlossen haben. Von deinem Brot haben sie gegessen, die nun einen Fallstrick unter dir legen. Keine Einsicht gibt es bei ihm.
Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
Siehe, an jenem Tag — Spruch des HERRN — vernichte ich die Weisen in Edom und die Einsicht im Bergland von Esau.
And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
Da brechen deine Helden zusammen, Teman, sodass jeder im Bergland von Esau ausgerottet wird. Wegen des Mordens,
For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
wegen der Gewalttat an Jakob, deinem Bruder, bedeckt dich die Schande und wirst du ausgerottet für immer.
In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
Am Tag, als du dabei standest, am Tag, als Fremde sein Heer abführten und Ausländer seine Tore betraten und das Los über Jerusalem warfen, da wurdest auch du wie einer von ihnen.
But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
Schau nicht zu am Tag deines Bruders, am Tag seines Unglücks! Freue dich nicht über die Söhne Judas am Tag ihres Untergangs! Und reiß deinen Mund nicht auf am Tag der Not!
Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;
Tritt nicht in das Tor meines Volkes am Tag des Unglücks! Sei nicht auch du schadenfroh über sein Unheil am Tag seines Unglücks! Streck nicht die Hand aus nach seinem Gut am Tag seines Unglücks!
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
Stell dich nicht am Engpass auf, um seine Flüchtlinge niederzumachen! Liefere seine Entflohenen nicht aus am Tag der Not!
The Deliverance of Israel
For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

Fürwahr! Nahe ist der Tag des HERRN über alle Völker. Wie du getan hast, so wird dir getan werden; deine Tat wird auf dein Haupt zurückkehren.
For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
Ja, wie ihr getrunken habt auf meinem heiligen Berg, so werden alle Völker jetzt unaufhörlich trinken: Sie trinken und schlürfen und sie werden, als seien sie niemals gewesen.
But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
Auf dem Berg Zion aber wird es Rettung geben und das ist das Heiligtum. Und das Haus Jakob wird die in Besitz nehmen, die es in Besitz genommen haben.
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.
Und das Haus Jakob wird zu Feuer und das Haus Josef zur Flamme und das Haus Esau zu Stroh, das vom Brand erfasst und verzehrt wird. Und vom Haus Esau wird keiner entkommen. Denn der HERR hat gesprochen.
And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
Die vom Negeb nehmen in Besitz das Bergland von Esau und die aus der Schefela das Land der Philister. Dann nehmen sie Efraims Flur und die Fluren von Samaria in Besitz und Benjamin Gilead.
And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
Und den Verbannten von Halach, den Söhnen Israels — ihnen gehört das Land der Kanaaniter bis nach Sarepta; und den Verbannten Jerusalems — ihnen gehört das Land bis Sefarad; sie besetzen die Städte des Negeb.
