Jonah's Prayer
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
Der HERR aber schickte einen großen Fisch, dass er Jona verschlinge. Jona war drei Tage und drei Nächte im Bauch des Fisches.
And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Da betete Jona zum HERRN, seinem Gott, aus dem Inneren des Fisches heraus:
For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
In meiner Not rief ich zum HERRN und er erhörte mich. Aus dem Leib der Unterwelt schrie ich um Hilfe und du hörtest meine Stimme.
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
Du hast mich in die Tiefe geworfen, in das Herz der Meere; mich umschlossen die Fluten, all deine Wellen und Wogen schlugen über mir zusammen.
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
Ich sagte: Ich bin verstoßen aus deiner Nähe. Wie kann ich jemals wiedersehen deinen heiligen Tempel?
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
Das Wasser reichte mir bis an die Kehle, die Urflut umschloss mich; Schilfgras umschlang meinen Kopf.
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
Bis zu den Wurzeln der Berge bin ich hinabgestiegen in das Land, dessen Riegel hinter mir geschlossen waren auf ewig. Doch du holtest mich lebendig aus dem Grab herauf, HERR, mein Gott.
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
Als meine Seele in mir verzagte, gedachte ich des HERRN und mein Gebet drang zu dir, zu deinem heiligen Tempel.
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
