The Temptation of Jesus

Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Тоді Дух повів Ісуса в пустелю, аби диявол Його випробовував.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

2

І Він, постивши сорок днів та сорок ночей, зрештою зголоднів.

3

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

3

І підійшов до Нього спокусник, і сказав: Якщо Ти — Син Божий, скажи, щоби це каміння стало хлібом.

4

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

4

У відповідь Він сказав: Написано: Не самим хлібом житиме людина, але кожним словом, що виходить з Божих уст.

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

Тоді диявол узяв Його до святого міста і поставив на наріжнику храму,

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

та й каже: Якщо Ти — Божий Син, то кинься вниз, адже написано, що Своїм ангелам звелить, [щоб оберігали Тебе], і на руках піднесуть Тебе, щоб Ти не вдарив об камінь ногу Свою.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Відповів йому Ісус: Ще написано: Не спокушатимеш Господа, Бога свого.

8

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

8

Знову бере Його диявол на дуже високу гору, показує Йому всі царства світу та їхню славу

9

And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

9

й каже: Усе це дам Тобі, якщо, упавши ниць, поклонишся мені.

10

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

10

Тоді Ісус відказує йому: Іди геть [від Мене], сатано! Адже написано: Господу, Богові своєму, поклонятимешся і Йому єдиному служитимеш!

11

Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

11

Тоді залишив Його диявол; і ось ангели приступили й служили Йому.

Jesus Begins His Ministry

Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

Почувши, що Івана ув’язнено, [Ісус] відійшов у Галилею.

13

And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

13

І, залишивши Назарет, Він прийшов і оселився в Капернаумі, що біля моря, в околицях Завулонових і Нефталимових,

14

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

щоби збулося сказане пророком Ісаєю, який сповіщав:

15

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

15

Земле Завулонова й земле Нефталимова, приморський шляху, по інший бік Йордану, Галилеє язичницька!

16

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

16

Народ, який сидів у темряві, побачив велике світло; і тим, хто сидить у країні смертної тіні, — їм засяяло світло.

17

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

17

Відтоді Ісус почав проповідувати, говорячи: Покайтеся, бо наблизилось Царство Небесне!

Jesus Calls His First Disciples

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

Коли Він проходив біля Галилейського моря, то побачив двох братів — Симона, який звався Петром, і Андрія, його брата, — які закидали сіті в море, оскільки були рибалками,

19

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

19

і каже їм: Ідіть за Мною, і зроблю вас ловцями людей.

20

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

20

Негайно ж, залишивши сіті, вони пішли за Ним.

21

And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

21

І, відійшовши звідти, побачив інших двох братів: Якова Зеведеєвого та Івана, його брата; вони разом зі своїм батьком Зеведеєм лагодили в човні свої сіті, і Він покликав їх.

22

And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

22

Залишивши човен і батька, вони відразу пішли за Ним.

Jesus Heals Great Multitudes

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

23

Тож [Ісус] ходив по всій Галилеї, навчаючи в їхніх синагогах, проповідуючи Євангеліє Царства та зцілюючи всяку недугу і всяку хворобу в народі.

24

And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

І розійшлася про Нього чутка по всій Сирії, і привели до Нього всіх хворих на різні недуги, знеможених стражданнями, біснуватих, лунатиків і паралізованих, — і Він оздоровив їх.

25

And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

25

І за Ним ішло багато людей з Галилеї, з Десятимістя [1] , з Єрусалима, з Юдеї і Зайордання.
