The Poor Widow's Offering

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

Звівши очі, Він побачив тих, які кидали свої багаті дари до скарбниці.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

2

Помітив і одну бідну вдову, яка вкидала туди дві лепти [1] ,

3

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

3

і сказав: Правду кажу вам, що ця бідна вдова більше від усіх кинула,

4

For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

4

бо всі ці зі свого достатку кидали в дар [Богові], а вона зі своєї вбогості вкинула все, що мала на прожиток.

5

Temple Destruction Foretold

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

І коли дехто говорив про храм, що прикрашений коштовним камінням та дарами, Він сказав:

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Настануть дні, коли з того, що бачите, не залишиться і камінь на камені, який не був би зруйнований.

7

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

Вони запитали Його, кажучи: Учителю, коли ж це буде і яка ознака того, коли це має статися?

8

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

8

Він же відповів: Стережіться, щоб вас ніхто не ввів у оману, бо багато хто прийде під Моїм Ім’ям, кажучи: Це я! — і: Час наблизився! — Не йдіть за ними!

9

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Коли ж почуєте про війни та розрухи, — не бійтеся, бо має це раніше статися, але це ще не кінець.

10

Witnessing to All Nations

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

10

Тоді говорив їм: Повстане народ проти народу і царство проти царства;

11

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

11

і будуть місцями великі землетруси, голод, пошесті й жахливі події, і будуть великі ознаки з неба.

12

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

12

А перед цим усім накладуть на вас свої руки і будуть переслідувати, видаючи в синагоги та в’язниці; поведуть вас до царів і володарів через Моє Ім’я;

13

And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

13

станеться ж вам це на свідчення.

14

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

14

Отже, покладіть у серцях ваших не турбуватися наперед, що відповідати,

15

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

15

бо Я вам дам слова та мудрість, яким не зможуть протистояти чи відповісти всі противники ваші.

16

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

16

Видаватимуть вас і батьки, і брати, і родичі, і друзі, і вб’ють декого з вас,

17

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

17

і будуть ненавидіти вас усі через Моє Ім’я.

18

But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

18

Але й волосина з вашої голови не пропаде.

19

In your patience possess ye your souls.

19

У вашій терпеливості здобудете ваші душі.

20

The Destruction of Jerusalem

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

20

Коли ж побачите, що Єрусалим оточений військами, тоді знайте, що наблизилося його спустошення.

21

Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

21

Тоді ті, хто в Юдеї, хай втікають у гори, а хто всередині міста, хай виходять; ті, хто в околицях, хай не входять до нього,

22

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

22

бо то будуть дні помсти, щоби сповнилося все написане.

23

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

23

Горе ж вагітним і тим, хто годуватиме грудьми в ті дні. Бо буде велике горе на землі й гнів на цьому народі;

24

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

24

і впадуть від вістря меча, і потраплять у полон до всіх народів, а Єрусалим буде топтаний язичниками, доки не закінчаться часи язичників.

25

The Return of the Son of Man

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

25

І будуть ознаки на сонці, і місяці, і зорях, а на землі тривога народів від раптового морського реву та розбурханих хвиль,

26

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

26

коли люди ціпенітимуть від страху й очікування того, що надходить на цілий світ, бо сили небесні захитаються.

27

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

27

І тоді побачать Сина Людського, Який йде на хмарі з силою і великою славою.

28

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

28

Коли ж почне це збуватися, випростайтеся і підійміть свої голови, бо наближається ваше визволення!

29

The lesson of the Fig Tree

And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

29

І розповів їм притчу: Погляньте на смоківницю і на всі дерева:

30

When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

30

коли вже пускають листя, і ви бачите це, то самі знаєте, що близько літо;

31

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

31

так і ви, коли побачите, що це збувається, — знайте, що близько Боже Царство.

32

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

32

Запевняю вас, що не мине рід цей, як усе станеться.

33

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

33

Небо і земля проминуть, а Мої слова не проминуть.

34

Be Watchful

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

Стережіться, щоб ваші серця не обтяжувалися ненаситністю, пияцтвом і життєвими клопотами, і щоб не надійшов на вас той день несподівано,

35

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

35

наче пастка, бо прийде він на всіх, хто проживає на поверхні всієї землі.

36

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

36

Тож пильнуйте, постійно моліться, щоби змогли ви уникнути всього того, що має відбутися, — і стати перед Сином Людським!

37

And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

37

Удень Ісус був у храмі й навчав, а вночі виходив і перебував на горі, що зветься Оливною.

38

And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

38

Зранку всі люди приходили до Нього в храм, щоби послухати Його.
