Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet

Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

Перед святом Пасхи Ісус, знаючи, що настала Його година перейти із цього світу до Отця, виявив любов до Своїх, — тих, які у світі, — до кінця полюбив їх.

And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

Під час вечері, як диявол уже вкинув у серце Юди Іскаріотського, сина Симона, видати Його,

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

[Ісус], знаючи, що все дав Йому Отець у руки і що від Бога вийшов та до Бога йде,

He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

устав з вечері, зняв одяг і, узявши рушника, підперезався.

After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

Потім налив води до вмивальниці й почав мити ноги учням і обтирати рушником, яким був підперезаний.

Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

Підходить Він до Симона-Петра. [А той] каже Йому: Господи, чи ж Тобі мити мої ноги?

7

Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

7

Ісус у відповідь йому сказав: Що Я роблю, того ти нині не знаєш, але згодом зрозумієш.

8

Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Каже Йому Петро: Ти не помиєш моїх ніг повіки! Ісус йому відповів: Якщо не вмию тебе, не матимеш частки зі Мною.

Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

9

Симон-Петро каже Йому: Господи, не тільки мої ноги, але й руки та голову.

10

Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

10

А Ісус говорить йому: Хто вмитий, тому потрібно тільки ноги обмити, оскільки весь чистий; і ви чисті, але не всі.

11

For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

11

Адже Він знав того, хто зрадить Його, тому й сказав, що не всі вони чисті.

12

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

12

А коли помив їхні ноги і надів Свій одяг, знову сів при столі й сказав їм: Чи ви знаєте, що Я зробив вам?

13

Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

13

Ви називаєте Мене Вчителем і Господом, і добре ви кажете, бо Я Ним є.

14

If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

14

Отже, коли Я, Господь і Вчитель, помив вам ноги, то й ви повинні мити ноги один одному.

15

For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

15

Адже Я дав вам приклад, щоб і ви робили так, як Я зробив вам.

16

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

16

Знову й знову запевняю вас, що раб не більший за свого пана, як і посланець не більший від того, хто послав його.

17

If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

17

Якщо це знаєте, то ви блаженні, коли це виконуєте.

18

Jesus Predicts His Betrayal

I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

18

Не про всіх вас кажу. Я знаю, кого вибрав, але щоби збулося Писання: Хто хліб споживає зі Мною, той підняв проти Мене свою п’яту.

19

Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

19

Тепер кажу вам, ще перед тим, як це станеться, щоб коли воно станеться, ви повірили, що то Я.

20

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

20

Знову й знову запевняю вас: Хто приймає того, кого Я пошлю, — Мене приймає, а хто Мене приймає, — приймає й Того, Хто Мене послав!

21

When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Промовивши це, Ісус стривожився духом, засвідчив і сказав: Знову й знову запевняю вас, що один із вас зрадить Мене!

22

Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

22

Учні почали споглядати один на одного, не здогадуючись, про кого Він говорить.

23

Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

23

Один з учнів, якого любив Ісус, лежав на грудях Ісуса.

Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.

24

Тож Симон-Петро кивнув йому, щоби запитав, хто це міг би бути, про кого Він говорить.

25

He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

25

А той, прихилившись до грудей Ісуса, каже Йому: Господи, хто це?

26

Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

26

Ісус відповів: Це той, кому Я, вмочивши, подам хліб. Умочивши хліб, Він бере і дає Юді Іскаріотському, синові Симона.

27

And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

27

І тоді, після цього шматка хліба, ввійшов у нього сатана. А Ісус сказав йому: Що робиш, роби швидше!

28

Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.

28

Ніхто з тих, хто був при столі, не зрозумів, до чого Він сказав це йому.

29

For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.

29

Оскільки в Юди була скринька на гроші, то деякі подумали, що Ісус звелів йому купити те, що потрібне на свято, або щоби дав щось бідним.

30

He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

30

Отже, взявши той шматок хліба, він відразу вийшов. Була ніч.

A New Command I Give You

Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

31

А коли він вийшов, Ісус говорить: Нині прославився Син Людський, і Бог прославився в Ньому.

32

If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.

32

Якщо Бог прославився в Ньому, то і Бог прославить Його в Собі, — і цієї ж миті прославить Його!

33

Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

33

Діти, Я з вами буду недовго. Будете Мене шукати, і як Я казав юдеям, — куди Я іду, ви не можете прийти, — те й вам нині кажу.

34

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

34

Нову заповідь даю вам: Любіть один одного! Як Я полюбив вас, щоб і ви любили так один одного.

35

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

35

З того дізнаються всі, що ви — Мої учні, коли любов матимете між собою.

Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.

36

Каже Йому Симон-Петро: Господи, куди Ти йдеш? Ісус йому відповів: Куди [Я] іду, ти не можеш нині за Мною йти, але підеш пізніше.

37

Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

37

Каже Йому Петро: Господи, чому я не можу нині піти за Тобою? Душу свою за Тебе я покладу.

38

Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.

38

Відповідає [йому] Ісус: Душу свою за Мене ти покладеш? Знову й знову запевняю тебе: не проспіває півень, як ти тричі відречешся від Мене.
