Jesus' Warning

These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

Це сказав Я вам, щоб ви не були спокушені.

They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

Із синагог виганятимуть вас. Надходить час, коли кожний, хто вбиватиме вас, буде вважати, ніби тим служить Богові.

And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

3

Вони робитимуть це, бо не пізнали ні Отця, ні Мене.

4

But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

Отже, Я сказав вам це, щоб коли прийде їхній час, ви згадували, що Я вам сказав. Цього вам не сказав спочатку, бо Я був з вами.

The Holy Spirit Promised

But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

5

Нині ж іду до Того, Хто послав Мене, і ніхто з вас не питає Мене: Куди відходиш?

6

But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

6

Та від того, що Я сказав вам, смутком наповнилося ваше серце.

7

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

7

Але Я істину вам кажу: краще для вас, щоб Я пішов. Бо якщо Я не піду, то Утішитель не прийде до вас. Якщо ж піду, — пошлю Його до вас.

8

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

Прийшовши, Він обвинуватить світ за гріх, за праведність і за суд.

9

Of sin, because they believe not on me;

9

Тож за гріх, що не вірять у Мене,

10

Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

10

а за праведність, що Я йду до [Мого] Отця, і більше Мене не побачите,

11

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

11

а за суд, що князь цього світу засуджений.

12

I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

12

Ще багато чого Я маю сказати вам, але тепер ви не можете знести.

13

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

13

Коли ж прийде Він, Дух Істини, то поведе вас до повної істини, бо не від Себе буде говорити, але що почує, те й говоритиме, і сповістить вам те, що має настати.

14

He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

14

Він Мене прославить, бо від Мого одержить і сповістить вам.

15

All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15

Усе, що має Отець, є Моє; тому Я і сказав, що з Мого одержить і сповістить вам.

16

A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

16

Незабаром не побачите Мене більше, і знову незабаром побачите Мене, [бо Я іду до Отця].

17

The Disciples' Grief will Turn to Joy

Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

А деякі учні говорили між собою: Що означає те, що нам говорить: Незабаром не побачите Мене, і знову незабаром побачите Мене? Або: Я іду до Отця?

18

They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

18

Тоді казали: Що ж означає в Нього — незабаром? Не знаємо, що Він говорить!

19

Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

19

Знаючи, що хочуть Його запитати, Ісус сказав їм: Чи про те допитуєтеся між собою, що Я сказав: Незабаром не побачите Мене, і знову — незабаром побачите Мене?

20

Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

20

Знову й знову запевняю вас, що ви будете плакати й ридати, а світ буде радіти; ви будете сумувати, але ваш смуток на радість зміниться.

21

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

21

Жінка, коли родить, терпить муки, бо прийшов її час. Коли ж народить дитину, то вже не пам’ятає страждань через радість, що народилася людина на світ.

22

And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

22

Тож і ви нині маєте смуток, та Я знову побачу вас, і зрадіє ваше серце, і вашої радості вже ніхто не забере від вас.

23

Ask and You will Receive

And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

23

І того дня Мене не проситимете нічого. Знову й знову запевняю вас: чого тільки попросите від Отця в Моє Ім’я, — дасть вам.

24

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

24

Дотепер в Моє Ім’я ви не просили нічого. Просіть — і отримаєте, щоб ваша радість була повна.

25

These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

25

Це Я в притчах сказав вам; надходить година, коли більше в притчах не говоритиму вам, але відкрито сповіщу вам про Отця.

26

At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

26

Того дня попросите в Моє Ім’я, — і не кажу вам, що проситиму Отця за вас,

27

For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

27

бо Сам Отець любить вас, — адже ви Мене полюбили й повірили, що Я вийшов від Бога.

28

I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

28

Я вийшов від Отця і прийшов у світ; знову залишаю світ і йду до Отця!

29

His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

29

Кажуть [Йому] Його учні: Ось нині відкрито говориш і жодної притчі не розказуєш.

30

Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

30

Тепер бачимо, що знаєш усе і не потребуєш, щоби хтось Тебе запитував. Тому віримо, що Ти вийшов від Бога.

31

Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

31

Ісус відповів їм: Тепер вірите?

32

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

32

Ось надходить година, і [вже] настала, що розбіжитеся кожний до свого, а Мене Самого залишите. Та Я не Сам, бо зі Мною Отець.

33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

33

Це Я сказав вам, щоб у Мені ви мали мир. У світі зазнаєте страждання, але будьте відважні: Я переміг світ!
