Jesus Heals the Man Born Blind
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
А коли Він ішов, то побачив чоловіка, сліпого від народження.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Його учні запитали Його, кажучи: Учителю, хто згрішив: він чи батьки його, що сліпим народився?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
Ісус відповів: Ні він не згрішив, ні його батьки, але щоб виявилися на ньому Божі діла.
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Доки є день, потрібно, щоб ми робили діла Того, Хто Мене послав; надходить ніч, коли ніхто не зможе робити.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Поки Я є у світі, Я — Світло для світу!
When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
Сказавши це, Він плюнув на землю, зробив грязиво зі слини й помазав ним очі сліпому,
And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
і сказав йому: Піди вмийся в купальні Силоам! Силоам у перекладі означає «посланий». Отже, він пішов, умився і прийшов зрячим.
The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
Сусіди ж і ті, котрі бачили його раніше, як він був жебраком, казали: Хіба це не той, хто сидів і жебрав?
Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
Деякі говорили, що це він; інші говорили, що ні, але подібний до нього. Він [же] казав: Це я!
Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
Тоді випитували в нього: Як тобі відкрилися очі?
He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
Він відповів: Чоловік, Якого звуть Ісус, зробив грязиво й помазав мої очі та сказав мені: Іди в [купальню] Силоам і вмийся. Я пішов, умився і прозрів.
Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
І запитали в нього: Де Він? Той каже: Я не знаю.
The Pharisees Investigate
They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.

And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
А того дня, коли Ісус зробив грязиво й відкрив йому очі, була субота.
Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
Знову запитували його фарисеї, як він прозрів. Він сказав їм: Грязиво поклав мені на очі, я вмився і бачу.
Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
Деякі з фарисеїв говорили: Ця Людина не є від Бога, бо не дотримується суботи. Інші ж казали: Як може грішна людина робити такі чудеса? І виник між ними поділ.
They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
Знову кажуть сліпому: Що ти скажеш про Нього, оскільки Він відкрив твої очі? Він же сказав: Це Пророк!
But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
Але юдеї не повірили в те, що він був сліпим і став зрячим, аж поки не покликали батьків того, хто прозрів,
And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
і не запитали їх, говорячи: Чи це ваш син, про якого ви кажете, що народився сліпий? Як же він тепер бачить?
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
У відповідь його батьки сказали [їм]: Знаємо, що він — наш син і що народився сліпий,
But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
а чому тепер бачить, — не знаємо, або хто відкрив йому очі, — ми не знаємо. Він дорослий, його й запитайте; нехай говорить сам за себе!
These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
Таке сказали його батьки, оскільки боялися юдеїв; а юдеї вже змовилися, що коли хто визнає його за Христа, то буде відлучений він від синагоги.
Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
Ось чому його батьки сказали: Він дорослий, тож запитайте його самого.
Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
Отже, вдруге покликали чоловіка, який був сліпий, і сказали йому: Віддай славу Богові! Ми знаємо, що Той Чоловік грішний!
He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
У відповідь він сказав: Чи Він грішний, — я не знаю; одне знаю, що я був сліпий, а тепер бачу!
Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
[Ще раз] запитали його: Що Він тобі зробив? Як відкрив твої очі?
He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
Він відповів їм: Я вам уже сказав, та ви не вислухали. Що ще хочете почути? Чи й ви хочете стати Його учнями?
Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
І докорили йому, кажучи: Це ти Його учень, а ми — учні Мойсея.
We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
Ми знаємо, що з Мойсеєм говорив Бог, а Цей — ми не знаємо звідки Він!
The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
Чоловік сказав їм у відповідь: Дивно, що ви не знаєте, звідки Він, а Він відкрив мені очі.
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Адже відомо, що грішників Бог не слухає, але коли хто Бога шанує і чинить Його волю, того Він слухає.
Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
Споконвіку не чувано, щоби хтось відкрив очі тому, хто народився сліпим.
If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
Якби Він не був від Бога, то не міг би робити нічого!
They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
А вони йому у відповідь сказали: Ти весь у гріхах народився, і ти ще нас учиш? І вигнали його геть.
Spiritual Sight and Blindness
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?

Почувши, що його вигнали геть, Ісус знайшов його і сказав [йому]: Чи віриш ти в Сина Людського?
He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
Той у відповідь сказав: А хто Він, Господи, щоб я повірив у Нього?
And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
Ісус сказав йому: І ти Його бачив, оце Він говорить з тобою.
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
Він же сказав: Вірю, Господи! — і вклонився Йому.
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
А Ісус сказав: На суд Я прийшов у цей світ, щоб сліпі бачили, а зрячі щоб ставали сліпими!
And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
Почули це деякі фарисеї, які були з Ним, і сказали Йому: Невже й ми сліпі?
