Christ's Coming Judgment

This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

Это, возлюбленные, уже мое второе послание к вам. Я написал эти послания для того, чтобы напоминанием призвать вас рассуждать здраво,

That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

чтобы вы помнили слова, сказанные в прошлом святыми пророками, и повеление Господа и Спасителя, переданное вашими апостолами.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

Прежде всего вы должны помнить о том, что в последнее время появятся наглые насмешники, идущие на поводу своих низменных желаний

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

и говорящие: «Так как же насчет обещания Его прихода? Ведь с тех пор, как умерли отцы, все остается так, как было от начала творения».

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Но они сознательно пренебрегают тем, что некогда вселенная20 была создана словом Божьим, что воды были собраны и появилась суша,

Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

а также тем, что посредством воды был разрушен прежний мир, будучи затоплен.

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

А нынешние небеса и земля тем же словом Бога сберегаются для огня, они сохраняются до Дня Суда и гибели безбожных людей.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Не забывайте одного, возлюбленные: для Господа один день — что тысяча лет и тысяча лет — что один день.21

9

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Господь не откладывает исполнения того, что Он обещал, хоть некоторые и называют это промедлением. Он очень терпелив к вам, не желая, чтобы кто-нибудь погиб, но чтобы все покаялись.

The Day of the Lord

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

День Господа придет, словно вор. Тогда небосвод22 с громким шумом исчезнет, и небесные тела растворятся в огне, также и земля, и все дела на ней будут обнаружены.23

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Если все будет так разрушено, то какой святой и благочестивой жизнью вы должны жить,

12

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

12

ожидая и ускоряя24 приход Дня Божьего, когда небосвод будет разрушен огнем и небесные тела расплавлены в жаре?!

13

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

13

Но мы, по Его обещанию, ожидаем нового неба и новой земли,25 где обитает праведность.

Final Exhortations

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

14

Поэтому, возлюбленные, в ожидании этого постарайтесь, чтобы Он нашел вас в мире, незапятнанными и непорочными.

15

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

Долготерпение нашего Господа рассматривайте как спасение. О том же самом, по данной ему Богом мудрости, писал вам и наш дорогой брат Павел.

As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Он пишет об этом во всех своих посланиях. В них есть много такого, что не легко понять, и невежественные и неутвержденные люди искажают их, как и другие Писания, к своей собственной погибели.

Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

Поэтому, возлюбленные, зная об этом заранее, будьте бдительны, чтобы вас не увлекли заблуждения беззаконников и вы не лишились твердой опоры.

18

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Возрастайте в благодати и познании нашего Господа и Спасителя Иисуса Христа. Ему принадлежит слава сегодня, и в День вечности! Аминь.
