Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

Seht, welche Liebe uns der Vater geschenkt hat: Wir heißen Kinder Gottes und wir sind es. Deshalb erkennt die Welt uns nicht, weil sie ihn nicht erkannt hat.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Geliebte, jetzt sind wir Kinder Gottes. Doch ist noch nicht offenbar geworden, was wir sein werden. Wir wissen, dass wir ihm ähnlich sein werden, wenn er offenbar wird; denn wir werden ihn sehen, wie er ist.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Wer die Sünde tut, stammt vom Teufel; denn der Teufel sündigt von Anfang an. Der Sohn Gottes aber ist erschienen, um die Werke des Teufels zu zerstören.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
und nicht wie Kain handeln, der von dem Bösen stammte und seinen Bruder erschlug. Warum hat er ihn erschlagen? Weil seine Taten böse waren, die Taten seines Bruders aber gerecht.
Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
Wundert euch nicht, Brüder und Schwestern, wenn die Welt euch hasst!
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
Wir wissen, dass wir aus dem Tod in das Leben hinübergegangen sind, weil wir die Brüder lieben. Wer nicht liebt, bleibt im Tod.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
Jeder, der seinen Bruder hasst, ist ein Menschenmörder und ihr wisst: Kein Menschenmörder hat ewiges Leben, das in ihm bleibt.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
Daran haben wir die Liebe erkannt, dass er sein Leben für uns hingegeben hat. So müssen auch wir für die Brüder das Leben hingeben.
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
Wenn jemand die Güter dieser Welt hat und sein Herz vor dem Bruder verschließt, den er in Not sieht, wie kann die Liebe Gottes in ihm bleiben?
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Meine Kinder, wir wollen nicht mit Wort und Zunge lieben, sondern in Tat und Wahrheit.
And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
Und daran werden wir erkennen, dass wir aus der Wahrheit sind. Und wir werden vor ihm unser Herz überzeugen,
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
dass, wenn unser Herz uns verurteilt, Gott größer ist als unser Herz und alles weiß.
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
Geliebte, wenn das Herz uns aber nicht verurteilt, haben wir gegenüber Gott Zuversicht;
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
und alles, was wir erbitten, empfangen wir von ihm, weil wir seine Gebote halten und tun, was ihm gefällt.
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
Und das ist sein Gebot: Wir sollen an den Namen seines Sohnes Jesus Christus glauben und einander lieben gemäß dem Gebot, das er uns gegeben hat.
