God's Righteous Judgment
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

Darum bist du unentschuldbar — wer du auch bist, o Mensch — , wenn du richtest. Denn worin du den andern richtest, darin verurteilst du dich selbst, weil du, der Richtende, dasselbe tust.
But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
Wir wissen aber, dass Gottes Gericht über alle, die solche Dinge tun, der Wahrheit entspricht.
And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Meinst du etwa, o Mensch, du könntest dem Gericht Gottes entrinnen, wenn du die richtest, die solche Dinge tun, und dasselbe tust wie sie?
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Oder verachtest du den Reichtum seiner Güte, Geduld und Langmut? Weißt du nicht, dass Gottes Güte dich zur Umkehr treibt?
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Weil du aber starrsinnig bist und dein Herz nicht umkehrt, sammelst du Zorn gegen dich für den Tag des Zornes, den Tag der Offenbarung von Gottes gerechtem Gericht.
Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Er wird jedem vergelten, wie es seine Taten verdienen:
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Denen, die beharrlich Gutes tun und Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Unvergänglichkeit erstreben, gibt er ewiges Leben,
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
denen aber, die selbstsüchtig sind und nicht der Wahrheit gehorchen, sondern der Ungerechtigkeit, widerfährt Zorn und Grimm.
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Not und Bedrängnis wird das Leben eines jeden Menschen treffen, der das Böse tut, zuerst den Juden, aber ebenso den Griechen;
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
doch Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Friede werden jedem zuteil, der das Gute tut, zuerst dem Juden, aber ebenso dem Griechen;
For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Denn die ohne das Gesetz sündigten, werden auch ohne das Gesetz zugrunde gehen, und die unter dem Gesetz sündigten, werden durch das Gesetz gerichtet werden.
(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Denn nicht die sind vor Gott gerecht, die das Gesetz hören, sondern die das Gesetz tun; die werden für gerecht erklärt werden.
For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Denn wenn Heiden, die das Gesetz nicht haben, von Natur aus das tun, was im Gesetz gefordert ist, so sind sie, die das Gesetz nicht haben, sich selbst Gesetz.
Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Sie zeigen damit, dass ihnen die Forderung des Gesetzes ins Herz geschrieben ist; ihr Gewissen legt Zeugnis davon ab, ihre Gedanken klagen sich gegenseitig an und verteidigen sich —
In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
an jenem Tag, an dem Gott, wie ich es in meinem Evangelium verkünde, das, was im Menschen verborgen ist, durch Jesus Christus richten wird.
The Jews and the Law
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Wenn du dich aber Jude nennst, dich auf das Gesetz verlässt und dich Gottes rühmst,
And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
seinen Willen kennst und, belehrt aus dem Gesetz, zu beurteilen weißt, worauf es ankommt;
And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
wenn du dir zutraust, Führer zu sein für Blinde, Licht für die in der Finsternis,
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
Erzieher der Unverständigen, Lehrer der Unmündigen, da du im Gesetz die Verkörperung von Erkenntnis und Wahrheit besitzt. —
Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
Du belehrst also andere Menschen, aber dich selbst belehrst du nicht? Du predigst: Du sollst nicht stehlen! und du stiehlst?
Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
Du sagst: Du sollst die Ehe nicht brechen! und brichst sie? Du verabscheust die Götzenbilder, begehst aber Tempelraub?
Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
Du rühmst dich des Gesetzes, entehrst aber Gott durch Übertreten des Gesetzes.
For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
Denn euretwegen wird unter den Heiden der Name Gottes gelästert, wie geschrieben steht.
For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Die Beschneidung ist nämlich nützlich, wenn du das Gesetz befolgst; übertrittst du jedoch das Gesetz, so bist du trotz deiner Beschneidung zum Unbeschnittenen geworden.
Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
Wenn aber der Unbeschnittene die Forderungen des Gesetzes beachtet, wird dann nicht sein Unbeschnittensein als Beschneidung angerechnet werden?
And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
Der leiblich Unbeschnittene, der das Gesetz erfüllt, wird dich richten, weil du trotz Buchstabe und Beschneidung ein Übertreter des Gesetzes bist.
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Denn Jude ist nicht, wer es nach außen hin ist, und Beschneidung ist nicht, was sichtbar am Fleisch geschieht,
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
sondern Jude ist, wer es im Verborgenen ist, und Beschneidung ist, was am Herzen durch den Geist, nicht durch den Buchstaben geschieht. Der Ruhm eines solchen Juden kommt nicht von Menschen, sondern von Gott.
