Our Eternal Dwelling

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

1

Адже ми знаємо, що коли наш земний дім тіла буде зруйнований, то маємо будівлю від Бога: дім нерукотворний, вічний, на небесах.

2

For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

Тому ми й зітхаємо, прагнучи зодягнутися в нашу небесну будівлю,

3

If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

щоб, хоч і [одягнені], ми не виявилися нагими.

4

For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Бо ми, які перебуваємо в наметі, зітхаємо під тягарем, оскільки хочемо не роздягтися, а зодягнутися, щоб смертне було поглинуте життям.

5

Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

Той, Хто створив нас для цього, це — Бог, Який дав нам завдаток Духа.

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

Отже, завжди маючи відвагу, знаємо, що коли живемо в тілі, перебуваємо далеко від Господа,

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

адже ми живемо вірою, а не тим, що бачимо.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Відвагу ж маємо та вподобання для того, щоб краще покинути тіло та перебувати з Господом.

Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

Тому ми і стараємося, — чи перебуваючи в тілі, чи покидаючи його, — бути любими Йому.

10

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Адже всі ми маємо з’явитися перед судовим престолом Христа, щоб кожний одержав згідно з тим, що в тілі робив: добро чи зло.

We are Christ's Ambassadors

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Отже, знаючи Господній страх, ми переконуємо людей; перед Богом же ми відкриті; маю надію, що й перед вашим сумлінням ми відкриті.

12

For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

Не доручаємо себе вам знову, але даємо вам нагоду похвалитися нами, щоб ви мали відповідь для тих, які хваляться обличчям, а не серцем.

13

For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

13

Коли ми виходимо із себе, — то для Бога; коли ж помірковані, — то для вас.

14

For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

Адже любов Христа охоплює нас, коли ми думаємо так: [якщо] один помер за всіх, то й усі померли.

15

And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

15

А Він помер за всіх, щоб ті, які живуть, більше не жили для самих себе, але для Того, Хто за них помер і воскрес.

16

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

16

Тому ми відтепер нікого не знаємо за тілом. Хоч ми знали Христа за тілом, але тепер більше не знаємо.

17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

17

Отже, хто в Христі, той нове творіння; давнє минуло, — ось постало [все] нове!

18

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

18

Усе — від Бога, Який примирив нас із Собою через Христа і дав нам служіння примирення.

19

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

19

Адже Бог у Христі примирив світ із Собою, не зараховуючи їм їхні переступи, і доручив нам слово примирення.

20

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

20

Отже, ми — посли від Імені Христа, і тому наче Сам Бог просить через нас. Від Імені Христа благаємо: примиріться з Богом!

21

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

21

Того, Хто не знав гріха, Він зробив за нас гріхом, щоб ми в Ньому стали Божою праведністю.
