Freedom in Christ

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Христос для волі нас визволив. Тож стійте в ній та не піддавайтеся зно́ву в ярмо ра́бства!

Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

2

Ось я, Павло, кажу вам, що коли ви обрізуєтесь, — то нема вам тоді жодної ко́ристи від Христа.

3

For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.

І свідкую я зно́ву всякому чоловікові, який обрізується, що повинен він ви́конати ввесь Зако́н.

4

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Ви, що Зако́ном виправдуєтесь, — полишилися без Христа, відпали від благодаті!

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

Бо ми в Дусі з віри чекаємо надії пра́ведности.

6

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Бо сили не має в Христі Ісусі ані обрі́зання, ані необрі́зання, — але віра, що чинна любов'ю.

Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

Бігли ви добре. Хто заборонив вам кори́тися правді?

This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.

Таке переко́нання не від Того, Хто вас покликав.

A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

Трохи ро́зчини квасить усе тісто!

I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

Я в Господі маю надію на вас, що нічого іншого ду́мати не будете ви. А хто вас непоко́їть, осуджений буде, хоч би він хто був!

11

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

Чого ж, браття, мене ще переслідують, коли я обрі́зання ще проповідую? Тоді споку́са хреста в ніщо оберта́ється!

I would they were even cut off which trouble you.

О, коли б були навіть відсі́чені ті, хто підбурює вас!

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Бо ви, браття, на волю покликані, але щоб ваша воля не стала при́водом догоджати тілу, а любов'ю служи́ти один о́дному!

14

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Бо ввесь Зако́н в однім слові місти́ться: „Люби свого ближнього, як само́го себе!“

15

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

Коли ж ви гризете́ та їсте один о́дного, то глядіть, щоб не знищили ви один о́дного!

Living by the Spirit

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

16

І кажу́: ходіть у Дусі, — і не вчи́ните пожадливости тіла,

17

For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

17

бо тіло бажає противного Духові, а Дух противного тілу, і супротивні вони один о́дному, щоб ви чинили не те, чого хочете.

18

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

18

Коли ж Дух вас провадить, то ви не під Зако́ном.

19

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Учинки тіла явні, то є: пере́люб, нечистість, розпу́ста,

20

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

20

ідолослу́ження, ча́ри, ворожнечі, сварка, заздрість, гнів, суперечки, незгоди, єресі,

21

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

21

за́видки, п'я́нство, гу́лянки й подібне до цього. Я про це попере́джую вас, як і попереджа́в був, що хто чинить таке, не вспадку́ють вони Царства Божого!

22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

А плід Духа: любов, радість мир, довготерпіння, ла́гідність, до́брість, вірність,

23

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

23

тихість, здержливість: — Зако́ну нема на таких!

24

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

24

А ті, що Христові Ісусові, розп'яли́ вони тіло з пожадли́востями та з по́хотями.

25

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

25

Коли Духом живемо, то й Духом ході́мо!

26

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

26

Не будьмо чванли́ві, не дражнімо один о́дного, не зави́дуймо один о́дному!
