Imitators of God

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Отже, наслідуйте Бога, як улюблені діти,

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

та живіть у любові, як і Христос полюбив нас і видав Себе за нас як дар і жертву Богові, як приємні пахощі.

3

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

3

А розпуста й усяка нечистота чи жадоба до наживи навіть хай не згадуються між вами, як це личить святим;

4

Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

4

також і безсоромність, і пусті балачки, чи грубі жарти — вони недоречні; але найкраще — подяка.

5

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Бо знайте, що жодний розпусник або нечистий, або жадібний до наживи, котрий є ідолослужителем, не має спадщини в Царстві Христа і Бога.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Хай ніхто з вас не піддається обманові марних слів, бо через це Божий гнів приходить на неслухняних синів.

Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

7

Тому не ставайте їхніми спільниками,

Children of Light

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

8

бо ви були колись темрявою, а тепер є світлом у Господі. Поводьтеся, як діти світла.

9

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Адже плід світла — в усякій доброті, праведності й правді.

10

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

10

Досліджуйте те, що до вподоби Богові,

11

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

11

і не ставайте спільниками в неплідних ділах темряви, а краще їх викривайте.

12

For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

12

Адже про те, що вони таємно роблять, соромно навіть говорити.

13

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

13

Усе, що засуджується, виявляється світлом,

14

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

14

оскільки все, що виявляється, стає світлом. Через це й сказано: Встань, ти, котрий спиш, і воскресни з мертвих, — і Христос освітить тебе!

15

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

15

Отже, уважно слідкуйте, щоби поводитися не як немудрі, але як мудрі,

16

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

цінуючи час, бо дні лукаві.

17

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

17

Тому не будьте нерозумними, але пізнавайте, у чому полягає Господня воля.

18

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

18

І не впивайтеся вином, в якому розпуста, а наповнюйтеся Духом,

19

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

19

повчаючи самих себе псалмами, урочистими та духовними піснями, співаючи і прославляючи у ваших серцях Господа,

20

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

20

дякуючи завжди і за все Богові й Отцеві в Ім’я Господа нашого Ісуса Христа,

21

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

21

підкоряючись одне одному в Христовому страху.

Wives and Husbands

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

22

Дружини, [коріться] своїм чоловікам, як Господу,

23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

23

адже чоловік є голова дружини, як Христос — Голова Церкви, Він же — Спаситель тіла.

24

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

24

Як Церква кориться Христові, так і дружини — чоловікам у всьому.

25

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

25

Чоловіки, любіть [своїх] дружин, як Христос полюбив Церкву й віддав Себе за неї,

26

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

26

щоб її освятити, очистивши купіллю води в слові,

27

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

27

щоби поставити її Собі славною Церквою, яка не має ні плями, ні вади, і нічого такого подібного, але щоб вона була свята й непорочна.

28

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

28

Так і чоловіки повинні любити своїх дружин, як власні тіла. Хто любить свою дружину, той і себе любить.

29

For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

29

Адже ніхто ніколи свого тіла не зненавидів, але годує і гріє його, як і Христос Церкву,

30

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

30

бо ми — члени Його тіла: [з Його тіла і з Його кісток].

31

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

31

Тому чоловік залишить батька й матір та пристане до своєї дружини, і будуть обоє одним тілом.

32

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

32

Це велика таємниця, адже я говорю про Христа й Церкву.

33

Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

33

Тож кожний з вас нехай любить свою дружину, як себе самого, а дружина нехай боїться свого чоловіка.
