The Day of the Lord

But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

1

Братья, мне нет необходимости писать вам о времени и сроках,

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

ибо вы сами очень хорошо знаете, что день второго пришествия Господа придёт неожиданно, словно вор в ночи.

3

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Когда говорят: "Всё мирно и спокойно", вдруг настигает их погибель, словно муки родовые беременную женщину, и не смогут они убежать от этого!

4

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

4

Но вы, братья, не пребываете во тьме, и день тот не застанет вас врасплох, подобно вору,

5

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

ибо все вы принадлежите дню и свету. Мы не принадлежим тьме или ночи.

6

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

6

Итак, не будем спать, как остальные, а будем бодрствовать и владеть собой.

7

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

7

Ибо те, кто спит, спят по ночам, и те, кто напивается, напиваются по ночам.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Мы же, принадлежащие свету, да будем владеть собой. Защитим себя кольчугой веры и любви и наденем шлем надежды на спасение.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ибо Бог избрал нас не для того, чтобы терпели мы гнев Его, а чтобы к нам пришло спасение через Господа нашего Иисуса Христа,

10

Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

10

Который умер за нас, чтоб могли мы жить вместе с Ним, живы мы или мертвы.

11

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

11

Так ободряйте же и духовно укрепляйте друг друга, как вы делаете это сейчас.

Christian Living

And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;

12

Но мы просим вас, братья, уважать тех, кто трудится среди вас, направляя и наставляя вас в Господе.

13

And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

13

Любите же их и относитесь к ним с величайшим уважением за труды их. Живите в мире друг с другом.

14

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

14

И мы побуждаем вас, братья: укоряйте праздных, утешайте боящихся, помогайте слабым. Будьте терпеливы со всеми.

15

See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

15

Следите, чтобы никто не платил злом за зло. Всегда стремитесь делать добро друг другу и всем вокруг.

Rejoice evermore.

Радуйтесь постоянно.

Pray without ceasing.

Молитесь непрестанно.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Благодарите Бога в любых обстоятельствах, как хочет Бог ото всех, кто во Иисусе Христе.

Quench not the Spirit.

Не гасите Духа Святого.

Despise not prophesyings.

Перестаньте относиться с презрением к пророчествам

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

и привыкайте подвергать всё испытанию, чтобы удостовериться, что это действительно от Бога, придерживайтесь добра

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

22

и сторонитесь всякого зла.

Final Blessings

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

23

И пусть Сам Бог, источник мира, сделает вас святыми, беззаветно преданными Ему, и пусть всё в вас — и дух, и душа, и тело — будет безупречно, когда придёт Господь наш Иисус Христос.

24

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

24

Тот, Кто призывает вас, сделает это для вас, доверьтесь Ему.

25

Brethren, pray for us.

25

Братья, пожалуйста, молитесь и за нас.

Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
