Obedience to Authorities

Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

Нагадуй їм, щоб слухали вла́ди верховної та кори́лися їй, і до всякого доброго ді́ла готові були́,

To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

щоб не зневажали ніко́го, щоб були́ не сварли́ві, а тихі, виявляючи повну ла́гідність усім лю́дям.

God's Mercy to Us

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Бо колись були й ми нерозсудні, неслухня́ні, зве́дені, служили різним пожадли́востям та розкошам, жили в злобі та в за́здрощах, бридки́ми були, нена́виділи один о́дного.

But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

А коли з'явилась благодать та люди́нолюбство Спасителя, нашого Бога,

5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Він нас спас не з діл праведности, що ми їх учинили були́, а з Своєї милости через обмиття відро́дження й обно́влення Духом Святим,

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

Якого Він щедро вилив на нас через Христа Ісуса, Спасителя нашого,

7

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

щоб ми виправдались Його благодаттю, і стали спадкоє́мцями за надією на вічне життя.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Вірне слово, і я хочу, щоб ти і про це впевня́в, щоб ті, хто ввірував у Бога, дба́ли про добрі діла пильнувати. Для людей оце добре й кори́сне!

Avoiding Divisions

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Вистерігайсь нерозумних змага́нь, і родоводів, і спорів, і супере́чок про Зако́н, — бо вони некори́сні й марні́.

A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;

Люди́ни єретика, по першім та другім наставленні, відрікайся,

Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

знавши, що зіпсувся такий та грішить, і він сам себе засудив.

Final Remarks and Greetings

When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter.

Як пришлю я до тебе Арте́ма або Тихи́ка, поква́пся прибути до мене в Нікопо́ль, бо думаю там перези́мувати.

Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them.

Зако́нника Зи́ну та Аполло́са вишли ква́пливо вперед, щоб для них не забракло нічо́го.

And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

Нехай же навчаються й наші дбати про добрі діла при конечних потребах, щоб безплодні вони не були́.

All that are with me salute thee. Greet them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
