A Sabbath-Rest for God's People

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

1

Тому, поки діє обітниця увійти до Його відпочинку, біймося, аби не здалося комусь із вас, що він запізнився.

2

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Адже ми, як і вони, одержали Добру Звістку, але слово, яке слухали, не принесло їм користі, бо не слухали з вірою.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Ми, які повірили, входимо до відпочинку, як Він провістив: Я присягнув у Моєму гніві, що не ввійдуть до Мого відпочинку, — хоча діла Його були закінчені при створенні світу.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

Тому що сказав десь про сьомий день ось так: І відпочив Бог сьомого дня від усіх Своїх діл.

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

І знову тут: Не ввійдуть до Мого відпочинку.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Отже, виходить, що деякі ввійшли до нього, а ті, хто раніше одержав Добру Звістку, не ввійшли через непослух.

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

І знову призначає якийсь день — сьогодні, — кажучи через Давида по багатьох роках те, про що раніше говорилося: Сьогодні, коли почуєте Його голос, не зробіть закам’янілими ваші серця.

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Якби Ісус Навин дав їм відпочинок, то не говорив би після цього про інший день.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Отже, для Божих людей залишається дотримання суботи,

For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

бо хто ввійшов до Його відпочинку, той і відпочив від своїх діл, як Бог від Своїх.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Тож поспішімо ввійти до того відпочинку, щоби хтось не впав у непокору за тим же прикладом.

God's Word is Living and Active

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Адже Слово Боже — живе і діяльне, гостріше від усякого двосічного меча: воно проникає аж до поділу душі й духа, суглобів і мозку кісток, судить думки й наміри серця.

13

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

13

І немає створіння, яке б сховалося від Нього, але все оголене й відкрите перед Його очима, — Йому дамо звіт!

Jesus the Great High Priest

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

14

Тому, маючи великого Первосвященика, Який пройшов небеса, — Ісуса, Божого Сина, — тримаймося визнання.

15

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

15

Адже маємо не Такого Первосвященика, Який не може співчувати нашим слабкостям, але Який подібно до нас був випробуваний у всьому, за винятком гріха.

16

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Тому приступаймо сміливо до престолу благодаті, щоб одержати милість і знайти благодать для своєчасної допомоги.
