Christ's Eternal Priesthood

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

У тому, про що я веду мову, головним є ось що: ми маємо такого Первосвященика, Який сів на небі праворуч престолу Величності.

A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

Він — Служитель святині та істинного намету, який поставив Господь, а не людина.

3

For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.

Адже кожний первосвященик настановляється на те, аби приносити дари й жертви, тому й потрібно, щоб і Він мав що принести.

For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

Тому, коли б Він був на землі, то не був би священиком, адже є ті, які приносять дари за Законом,

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

які служать образові й тіні небесного, як було вказано Мойсеєві, коли мав спорудити намет: Пильнуй, кажу, зроби все за зразком, який був показаний тобі на горі!

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

А тепер Він прийняв значно краще служіння, оскільки Він є Посередником кращого Завіту, узаконеного на кращих обітницях.

The New Covenant

For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

Бо якщо б перший Завіт був бездоганним, то для другого не шукалося б місця.

For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Докоряючи їм, Він говорить: Ось надходять дні, — мовить Господь, — коли з домом Ізраїля і з домом Юди Я укладу Новий Завіт, —

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

не за Завітом, який Я уклав з їхніми батьками того дня, коли взяв Я їх за руку, щоб вивести їх з Єгипетської землі. Оскільки вони порушили Мій Завіт, то і Я їх покинув, — каже Господь.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Ось Завіт, який Я укладу з домом Ізраїля по тих днях, — говорить Господь, — Мої Закони Я вкладу в їхній розум, напишу їх на їхніх серцях і буду для них Богом, а вони будуть для Мене народом.

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

І ніхто не буде навчати свого ближнього та свого брата, кажучи: Пізнай Господа! — бо всі вони пізнають Мене, від малого до великого.

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

12

Тому що Я буду милосердний до їхньої неправедності й більше не згадаю їхніх гріхів [та їхнього беззаконня].

In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

13

Коли йде мова про «новий», то тим самим перший Він визнав «старим», а те, що стає давнім і старіє, близьке до зотління.
