And David arose and went with all the people who were with him to Baale-judah, to bring up from there the ark of God which is called by the Name, the very name of the LORD of hosts who is enthroned above the cherubim.
Gemeinsam mit ihnen zog er nach Baala im Stammesgebiet von Juda, um die Bundeslade von dort nach Jerusalem zu bringen. Sie war dem HERRN geweiht, dem allmächtigen Gott, der über den Keruben thront.
They placed the ark of God on a new cart that they might bring it from the house of Abinadab which was on the hill; and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were leading the new cart.

Meanwhile, David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the LORD with all kinds of instruments made of fir wood, and with lyres, harps, tambourines, castanets and cymbals.
David und alle Israeliten liefen dem Wagen hinterher. Sie tanzten und lobten den HERRN mit allerlei Instrumenten: mit Harfen und Lauten, mit Tamburinen, Rasseln und Zimbeln.
But when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out toward the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen nearly upset it.
Bei dem Dreschplatz, der einem Mann namens Nachon gehörte, brachen die Rinder plötzlich aus, und der Wagen drohte umzustürzen. Schnell streckte Usa seine Hand aus und hielt die Bundeslade fest.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and God struck him down there for his irreverence; and he died there by the ark of God.
Da wurde der HERR sehr zornig über ihn, weil er es gewagt hatte, die Bundeslade zu berühren, und er ließ Usa auf der Stelle tot zu Boden fallen.
David became angry because of the LORD’S outburst against Uzzah, and that place is called Perez-uzzah to this day.
David war entsetzt, dass der HERR ihn so aus dem Leben gerissen hatte. Seitdem heißt der Dreschplatz Perez-Usa (»Entreißen Usas«).
So David was afraid of the LORD that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the LORD come to me?”
David bekam Angst vor dem HERRN. »Wie kann ich es jetzt noch wagen, die Bundeslade des HERRN zu mir zu nehmen?«, fragte er sich.
And David was unwilling to move the ark of the LORD into the city of David with him; but David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
Er beschloss, sie nicht nach Jerusalem zu bringen, sondern sie im Haus von Obed-Edom, einem Leviten aus Gat, abzustellen.
Thus the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and all his household.

The Ark Is Brought to Jerusalem
Now it was told King David, saying, “The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, on account of the ark of God.” David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness.
Eines Tages berichtete jemand David: »Seit die Bundeslade bei Obed-Edom ist, hat der HERR ihn, seine Familie und all seinen Besitz reich gesegnet.« Da ging David voller Freude zu Obed-Edoms Haus, um die Bundeslade nach Jerusalem zu holen.
And so it was, that when the bearers of the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.

And David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod.

So David and all the house of Israel were bringing up the ark of the LORD with shouting and the sound of the trumpet.
Jubelnd brachten David und alle Israeliten, die ihn begleiteten, die Bundeslade nach Jerusalem, und die Musiker bliesen ihre Hörner.
Then it happened as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
Als die Menge in der »Stadt Davids« ankam, schaute Davids Frau Michal, Sauls Tochter, aus dem Fenster. Sie sah, wie der König zu Ehren des HERRN hüpfte und tanzte, und verachtete ihn dafür.
So they brought in the ark of the LORD and set it in its place inside the tent which David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
Man trug die Bundeslade in das Zelt, das David für sie errichtet hatte, und stellte sie auf den vorgesehenen Platz in der Mitte. Dann ließ David dem HERRN Brand- und Friedensopfer darbringen.
When David had finished offering the burnt offering and the peace offering, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
Nach dem Opfer segnete er das Volk im Namen des HERRN, des allmächtigen Gottes.
Further, he distributed to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, both to men and women, a cake of bread and one of dates and one of raisins to each one. Then all the people departed each to his house.
Alle Israeliten, Männer und Frauen, erhielten einen Laib Brot, einen Rosinen- und einen Dattelkuchen. Dann machten sie sich auf den Heimweg.
But when David returned to bless his household, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How the king of Israel distinguished himself today! He uncovered himself today in the eyes of his servants’ maids as one of the foolish ones shamelessly uncovers himself!”
Auch David ging nach Hause, um seine eigene Familie zu segnen. Er war noch nicht im Palast, als ihm Michal schon entgegenkam. »Ach, wie würdevoll ist heute der Herr König vor seinem Volk aufgetreten!«, spottete sie. »Bei deiner halb nackten Tanzerei hast du dich vor den Sklavinnen deiner Hofbeamten schamlos entblößt. So etwas tut sonst nur das Gesindel!«
So David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel; therefore I will celebrate before the LORD.
David erwiderte: »Ich habe dem HERRN zu Ehren getanzt. Er hat deinem Vater und seinen Nachkommen die Herrschaft genommen und sie mir anvertraut. Mich hat er zum König über sein Volk Israel eingesetzt, und ihm zu Ehren will ich auch künftig tanzen.
“I will be more lightly esteemed than this and will be humble in my own eyes, but with the maids of whom you have spoken, with them I will be distinguished.”
Ja, ich wäre sogar bereit, mich noch tiefer zu erniedrigen als heute. Ich will mich selbst für gering halten, aber die Sklavinnen, über die du eben so herablassend gesprochen hast, sie werden mich schätzen und ehren.«
