David’s Address about the Temple
Now David assembled at Jerusalem all the officials of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the commanders of the divisions that served the king, and the commanders of thousands, and the commanders of hundreds, and the overseers of all the property and livestock belonging to the king and his sons, with the officials and the mighty men, even all the valiant men.

David versammelte in Jerusalem alle führenden Männer Israels, die Vorsteher der Stämme und der Abteilungen, die im Dienst des Königs standen, die Obersten der Tausend- und der Hundertschaften, die Verwalter des ganzen Eigentums und des Viehbesitzes des Königs und seiner Söhne, dazu die Hofbeamten, die Helden und alle tapferen Krieger.
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “Listen to me, my brethren and my people; I had intended to build a permanent home for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and for the footstool of our God. So I had made preparations to build it.
Dabei erhob sich König David und sagte: Hört mich an, meine Brüder und mein Volk! Ich selbst hatte vor, für die Bundeslade des HERRN, den Fußschemel unseres Gottes, eine Ruhestätte zu errichten, und traf Vorbereitungen für den Bau.
“But God said to me, ‘You shall not build a house for My name because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’
Doch Gott sprach zu mir: Du sollst meinem Namen kein Haus bauen; denn du hast Kriege geführt und Blut vergossen.
“Yet, the LORD, the God of Israel, chose me from all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be a leader; and in the house of Judah, my father’s house, and among the sons of my father He took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel.
Der HERR, der Gott Israels, hat mich aus dem ganzen Haus meines Vaters für immer zum König von Israel auserwählt. Er hat Juda zur Herrschaft bestimmt und im Haus Juda das Haus meines Vaters. Unter den Söhnen meines Vaters hat er an mir Gefallen gefunden, sodass er mich zum König über Israel machte.
“Of all my sons (for the LORD has given me many sons), He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
Unter allen meinen Söhnen aber — der HERR hat mir ja viele Söhne geschenkt — hat er meinen Sohn Salomo erwählt, dass er auf dem Königsthron des HERRN über Israel herrscht.
“He said to me, ‘Your son Solomon is the one who shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be a son to Me, and I will be a father to him.
Er sprach zu mir: Dein Sohn Salomo soll mein Haus und meine Höfe bauen; denn ihn habe ich mir zum Sohn erwählt und ich werde ihm Vater sein.
‘I will establish his kingdom forever if he resolutely performs My commandments and My ordinances, as is done now.’
Ich will seinem Königtum ewigen Bestand verleihen, wenn er mannhaft meine Gebote und Rechtsentscheide befolgt, wie es heute der Fall ist.
“So now, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, observe and seek after all the commandments of the LORD your God so that you may possess the good land and bequeath it to your sons after you forever.
Und nun ermahne ich euch vor den Augen ganz Israels, der Versammlung des HERRN, und vor den Ohren unseres Gottes: Bewahrt alle Gebote des HERRN, eures Gottes, und befolgt sie, damit ihr im Besitz des prächtigen Landes bleibt und es für immer auf eure Söhne nach euch vererben könnt!
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
Du aber, mein Sohn Salomo, erkenne den Gott deines Vaters; diene ihm mit ungeteiltem Herzen und williger Seele; denn der HERR erforscht alle Herzen und kennt jedes Sinnen der Gedanken. Wenn du ihn suchst, lässt er sich von dir finden. Wenn du ihn aber verlässt, verwirft er dich auf ewig.
“Consider now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be courageous and act.”
Sieh nun zu: Der HERR hat dich erwählt, dass du ihm ein Haus als Heiligtum erbaust. Sei mutig und geh ans Werk!
Then David gave to his son Solomon the plan of the porch of the temple, its buildings, its storehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms and the room for the mercy seat;
Darauf übergab David seinem Sohn Salomo das Modell der Vorhalle mit ihren Bauten, Schatzkammern, Obergemächern, Innenräumen und dem Raum der Sühneplatte
and the plan of all that he had in mind, for the courts of the house of the LORD, and for all the surrounding rooms, for the storehouses of the house of God and for the storehouses of the dedicated things;
sowie das Modell von allem, was ihm im Geiste war für die Höfe des Tempels und für alle Kammern ringsum. Er gab Anweisungen über die Schätze des Gotteshauses und die Schätze aus den Weihegaben,
also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD and for all the utensils of service in the house of the LORD;
über die Abteilungen der Priester und Leviten, über den Vollzug des gesamten Dienstes am Haus des HERRN und über alle Geräte, die man zum Dienst im Haus des HERRN benötigte.
for the golden utensils, the weight of gold for all utensils for every kind of service; for the silver utensils, the weight of silver for all utensils for every kind of service;
Dazu übergab er ihm seine Berechnungen über das Gold, mit Angabe des Gewichtes des Goldes für jedes einzelne Dienstgerät, und über alle silbernen Geräte, mit Angabe des Gewichtes eines jeden Dienstgerätes.
and the weight of gold for the golden lampstands and their golden lamps, with the weight of each lampstand and its lamps; and the weight of silver for the silver lampstands, with the weight of each lampstand and its lamps according to the use of each lampstand;
Er nannte ihm das Gewicht der goldenen Leuchter mit ihren goldenen Lampen, mit Angabe des Gewichtes eines jeden Leuchters und seiner Lampen, sowie der silbernen Leuchter, mit Angabe des Gewichtes eines jeden Leuchters und seiner Lampen, entsprechend der Verwendung eines jeden Leuchters.
and the gold by weight for the tables of showbread, for each table; and silver for the silver tables;
Er bestimmte das Gold mit Angabe des Gewichtes für die einzelnen Schaubrotetische und des Silbers für die silbernen Tische.
and the forks, the basins, and the pitchers of pure gold; and for the golden bowls with the weight for each bowl; and for the silver bowls with the weight for each bowl;
Ebenso gab er ihm Auskunft über die Gabeln, Schalen und Kannen aus purem Gold, über die goldenen Becher, mit Angabe des Gewichtes eines jeden Bechers, auch über die silbernen Becher, mit Angabe des Gewichtes eines jeden Bechers.
and for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the model of the chariot, even the cherubim that spread out their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
Er verordnete geläutertes Gold für den Räucheraltar, mit Angabe des Gewichtes, und Gold für den Aufbau des Thronwagens, die Kerubim, die ihre Flügel ausbreiteten und die Bundeslade des HERRN bedeckten.
“All this,” said David, “the LORD made me understand in writing by His hand upon me, all the details of this pattern.”
Das alles hat er mich in einer Schrift von der Hand des HERRN einsehen lassen, alle nach dem Modell auszuführenden Arbeiten.
Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the LORD is finished.
Dann sagte David zu seinem Sohn Salomo: Sei mutig und stark! Geh ans Werk! Fürchte dich nicht und verzage nicht! Denn der HERR, mein Gott, wird mit dir sein. Er wird dich nicht erlahmen lassen und dich nicht im Stich lassen, bis alle Arbeiten für den Dienst des Hauses des HERRN zu Ende geführt sind.
“Now behold, there are the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God, and every willing man of any skill will be with you in all the work for all kinds of service. The officials also and all the people will be entirely at your command.”
Sieh, die Abteilungen der Priester und Leviten stehen da, zu jeder Dienstleistung im Haus Gottes bereit. Bei jeder Arbeit und zu jedem Dienst werden dir alle willig nach ihren Fähigkeiten beistehen; ebenso werden dir die führenden Männer und das ganze Volk in jeder Angelegenheit zur Seite stehen.
