Shishak of Egypt Invades Judah

Da aber das Königreich Rehabeams befestigt und bekräftigt ward, verließ er das Gesetz des HERRN und ganz Israel mit ihm.
And it came about in King Rehoboam’s fifth year, because they had been unfaithful to the LORD, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem
Aber im fünften Jahr des Königs Rehabeam zog herauf Sisak, der König in Ägypten, wider Jerusalem (denn sie hatten sich versündigt am HERRN
with 1,200 chariots and 60,000 horsemen. And the people who came with him from Egypt were without number: the Lubim, the Sukkiim and the Ethiopians.
mit 1200 Wagen und mit 60,000 Reitern, und das Volk war nicht zu zählen, das mit ihm kam aus Ägypten: Libyer, Suchiter und Mohren.
He captured the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.

Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them, “Thus says the LORD, ‘You have forsaken Me, so I also have forsaken you to Shishak.’”
Da kam Semaja, der Prophet, zu Rehabeam und zu den Obersten Juda’s, die sich gen Jerusalem versammelt hatten vor Sisak, und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR: Ihr habt mich verlassen; darum habe ich euch auch verlassen in Sisaks Hand.
So the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The LORD is righteous.”
Da demütigten sich die Obersten in Israel mit dem König und sprachen: Der HERR ist gerecht.
When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves so I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some measure of deliverance, and My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by means of Shishak.
Als aber der HERR sah, daß sie sich demütigten, kam das Wort des HERRN zu Semaja und sprach: Sie haben sich gedemütigt; darum will ich sie nicht verderben, sondern ich will ihnen ein wenig Errettung geben, daß mein Grimm nicht triefe auf Jerusalem durch Sisak.
“But they will become his slaves so that they may learn the difference between My service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”
Doch sollen sie ihm untertan sein, daß sie innewerden, was es sei, mir dienen und den Königreichen in den Landen dienen.
Plunder Impoverishes Judah
So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s palace. He took everything; he even took the golden shields which Solomon had made.
Also zog Sisak, der König in Ägypten, herauf gen Jerusalem und nahm die Schätze im Hause des HERRN und die Schätze im Hause des Königs und nahm alles weg und nahm auch die goldenen Schilde, die Salomo machen ließ.
Then King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place and committed them to the care of the commanders of the guard who guarded the door of the king’s house.
An deren Statt ließ der König Rehabeam eherne Schilde machen und befahl sie den Obersten der Trabanten, die an der Tür des Königshauses hüteten.
As often as the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards came and carried them and then brought them back into the guards’ room.
Und so oft der König in des HERRN Haus ging, kamen die Trabanten und trugen sie und brachten sie wieder in der Trabanten Kammer.
And when he humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, so as not to destroy him completely; and also conditions were good in Judah.
Und weil er sich demütigte, wandte sich des HERRN Zorn von ihm, daß nicht alles verderbt ward. Denn es war in Juda noch etwas Gutes.
So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned. Now Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. And his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
Also ward Rehabeam, der König, bekräftigt in Jerusalem und regierte. 41 Jahre alt war Rehabeam da er König ward, und regierte 17 Jahre zu Jerusalem in der Stadt, die der HERR erwählt hatte aus allen Stämmen Israels, daß er seinen Namen dahin stellte. Seine Mutter hieß Naema, eine Ammonitin.
He did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.
Und er handelte übel und schickte sein Herz nicht, daß er den HERRN suchte.
Now the acts of Rehoboam, from first to last, are they not written in the records of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, according to genealogical enrollment? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
Die Geschichten aber Rehabeams, beide, die ersten und die letzten, sind geschrieben in den Geschichten Semajas, des Propheten, und Iddos, des Schauers, und aufgezeichnet, dazu die Kriege Rehabeams und Jerobeams ihr Leben lang.
