Als Salomo sein Gebet beendet hatte, fiel Feuer vom Himmel und verzehrte das Brandopfer und die Schlachtopfer. Der HERR in seiner Herrlichkeit erfüllte den ganzen Tempel,
The priests could not enter into the house of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD’S house.
so dass die Priester nicht mehr hineingehen konnten.
All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the LORD upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the LORD, saying, “Truly He is good, truly His lovingkindness is everlasting.”
Als die Israeliten sahen, wie das Feuer vom Himmel kam und der HERR in seiner Herrlichkeit den Tempel erfüllte, fielen sie alle auf die Knie und verneigten sich, bis ihr Gesicht den Boden berührte. Sie beteten den HERRN an und lobten ihn mit dem Lied: »Der HERR ist gütig, seine Gnade hört niemals auf!«
Sacrifices Offered
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before the LORD.
Mit einem großen Opferfest weihte der König und mit ihm das ganze Volk den Tempel Gottes ein. Salomo ließ 22.000 Rinder und 120.000 Schafe schlachten.
The priests stood at their posts, and the Levites also, with the instruments of music to the LORD, which King David had made for giving praise to the LORD — “for His lovingkindness is everlasting” — whenever he gave praise by their means, while the priests on the other side blew trumpets; and all Israel was standing.
Während die Priester die Arbeiten verrichteten, die ihnen zugeteilt waren, spielten die Leviten auf den Instrumenten, die David zum Lob des HERRN hatte bauen lassen. Sie sangen und spielten das Loblied »Seine Gnade hört niemals auf«, das sie von David gelernt hatten. Die Priester begleiteten sie auf ihren Trompeten, während das ganze Volk stand.
Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD, for there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings because the bronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to contain the burnt offering, the grain offering and the fat.
Die Mitte des Tempelvorhofs wurde zur Opferstätte geweiht, weil der bronzene Altar, den Salomo gemacht hatte, viel zu klein war für die vielen Opfer. Denn unzählige Brand- und Speiseopfer wurden dargebracht, und auch das Fett der Tiere, die man für das Opfermahl schlachtete, wurde verbrannt.
The Feast of Dedication
So Solomon observed the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly who came from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt.
Vierzehn Tage lang feierten König Salomo und die Israeliten: in der ersten Woche die Einweihung des Tempels und in der zweiten Woche das Laubhüttenfest. Sehr viele Israeliten nahmen daran teil. Von weit her waren sie nach Jerusalem gekommen, vom äußersten Norden des Landes aus Lebo-Hamat bis zu dem Bach, der im Süden die Grenze nach Ägypten bildet. Am letzten Tag feierten sie ein großes Abschlussfest.
Then on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and happy of heart because of the goodness that the LORD had shown to David and to Solomon and to His people Israel.
Danach, am 23. Tag des 7. Monats, beendete Salomo das Fest, und die Israeliten zogen wieder nach Hause. Voller Freude und Dankbarkeit dachten sie an das Gute, das der HERR schon David und nun auch Salomo und seinem Volk Israel erwiesen hatte.
God’s Promise and Warning
Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the king’s palace, and successfully completed all that he had planned on doing in the house of the LORD and in his palace.
So vollendete Salomo den Tempel des HERRN und seinen eigenen Palast. Es war ihm gelungen, alles wie geplant auszuführen.
Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
Da erschien ihm eines Nachts der HERR und sprach zu ihm: »Ich habe dein Gebet erhört und diesen Tempel als Ort erwählt, an dem ihr mir eure Opfer darbringen könnt.
“If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people,
Wenn ich es einmal lange Zeit nicht regnen lasse, wenn ich Heuschrecken ins Land schicke, damit sie die Ernte vernichten, oder wenn ich in meinem Volk die Pest ausbrechen lasse
and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
und sie rufen zu mir, dann will ich im Himmel ihr Gebet erhören. Wenn dieses Volk, das meinen Namen trägt, sich mir in Demut unterordnet, von seinen falschen Wegen umkehrt und nach mir fragt, dann will ich ihnen vergeben und ihr geplagtes Land wieder heilen.
“Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.
Ich werde jeden beachten, der hier zu mir betet, und meine Ohren nicht vor seinen Bitten verschließen.
“For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that My name may be there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.
Denn ich habe diesen Tempel als einen heiligen Ort erwählt, an dem ich selbst für immer wohnen will. Mein Blick wird stets auf ihm ruhen, denn mein Herz hängt an ihm.
“As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, even to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep My statutes and My ordinances,
Und du, Salomo, lebe wie dein Vater David. Befolge alles, was ich dir befohlen habe! Lebe nach meinen Geboten und achte auf meine Weisungen!
then I will establish your royal throne as I covenanted with your father David, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to be ruler in Israel.’
Dann wird immer ein Nachkomme von David auf dem Thron Israels sitzen. Denn so habe ich es deinem Vater versprochen, als ich einen Bund mit ihm schloss. Ich selbst werde dein Königtum sichern.
“But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,
Doch wenn ihr mir den Rücken kehrt und meine Weisungen und Gebote nicht mehr befolgt, wenn ihr anderen Göttern nachlauft, sie anbetet und ihnen dient,
then I will uproot you from My land which I have given you, and this house which I have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
dann werde ich euch aus diesem Land vertreiben, das ich euch gegeben habe. Israels Unglück wird sprichwörtlich sein. Alle Völker werden euch verspotten. Auch von diesem Tempel, den ich jetzt zu einer heiligen Stätte erklärt habe, werde ich mich wieder abwenden.
“As for this house, which was exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?’
Nur ein Trümmerhaufen wird von ihm übrig bleiben. Wer an ihm vorübergeht, wird verächtlich lachen und zugleich entsetzt sein über das, was er sieht. Erstaunt wird er fragen: ›Warum hat der HERR dieses Land und diesen Tempel so furchtbar zerstört?‹
“And they will say, ‘Because they forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers who brought them from the land of Egypt, and they adopted other gods and worshiped them and served them; therefore He has brought all this adversity on them.’”
Und man wird ihm antworten: ›Weil die Israeliten den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Vorfahren, verlassen haben. Er hat sie aus Ägypten herausgeführt, und doch sind sie fremden Göttern nachgelaufen, haben sie angebetet und ihnen gedient. Darum hat der Herr nun dieses Unglück über sie hereinbrechen lassen.‹«
