Bildad Says God Rewards the Good

Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

1

Підхопивши, Валдад, савхетієць, каже:

2

“How long will you say these things,
And the words of your mouth be a mighty wind?

2

Доки говоритимеш це? Дух багатомовний у твоїх устах.

3

“Does God pervert justice?
Or does the Almighty pervert what is right?

3

Хіба Господь учинить неправедно, коли судить? Хіба Той, Хто створив усе, перекручуватиме справедливість?

4

“If your sons sinned against Him,
Then He delivered them into the power of their transgression.

4

Якщо твої сини згрішили перед Ним, Він послав рукою їхнього беззаконня.

5

“If you would seek God
And implore the compassion of the Almighty,

5

Ти ж рано вставай, молячись до Господа Вседержителя.

6

If you are pure and upright,
Surely now He would rouse Himself for you
And restore your righteous estate.

Якщо ти чистий і праведний, Він вислухає твою молитву, відновить тобі праведний спосіб життя.

7

“Though your beginning was insignificant,
Yet your end will increase greatly.

7

Тому перше твоє буде малим, а твоє останнє — без міри.

8

“Please inquire of past generations,
And consider the things searched out by their fathers.

Тож запитай попереднє покоління, досліди в роді батьків!

9

“For we are only of yesterday and know nothing,
Because our days on earth are as a shadow.

9

Адже ми є вчорашні й не знаємо, бо наше життя є тінню на землі.

10

“Will they not teach you and tell you,
And bring forth words from their minds?

10

Хіба не повчать тебе вони, і сповістять, і від серця викажуть слова?

11

“Can the papyrus grow up without a marsh?
Can the rushes grow without water?

11

Чи буйно росте папірус без води, чи росте очерет без вологи?

12

“While it is still green and not cut down,
Yet it withers before any other plant.

12

Ще будучи на корені й будучи не пожатим, чи не всохне всяка трава, якщо не буде напоєна?

13

“So are the paths of all who forget God;
And the hope of the godless will perish,

13

Таким насправді буде кінець усіх, хто забуває про Господа. Адже надія безбожних пропаде!

14

Whose confidence is fragile,
And whose trust a spider’s web.

14

Тож його дім буде незаселеним, а його намет обплутає павутиння.

15

“He trusts in his house, but it does not stand;
He holds fast to it, but it does not endure.

15

Якщо він підіпре свій дім, він не встоїть. А коли схопиться за нього, то не втримається.

16

“He thrives before the sun,
And his shoots spread out over his garden.

16

Адже він є вологим під сонцем, та з його гнилі вийде його галузка.

17

“His roots wrap around a rock pile,
He grasps a house of stones.

17

Він засинатиме на купі каміння, і житиме посеред гальки.

18

“If he is removed from his place,
Then it will deny him, saying, ‘I never saw you.’

18

Якщо буде знищений, місце його обмане. Хіба не бачив ти цього?

19

“Behold, this is the joy of His way;
And out of the dust others will spring.

19

Бо таке знищення безбожного, із землі ж іншого виростить.

20

“Lo, God will not reject a man of integrity,
Nor will He support the evildoers.

20

Адже Господь не відкине праведного, а всякий дар безбожного не прийме.

21

“He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
And your lips with shouting.

21

Уста ж праведних Він наповнить сміхом, — їхні уста — прославлянням.

22

“Those who hate you will be clothed with shame,
And the tent of the wicked will be no longer.”

22

Вороги ж їхні зодягнуться в засоромлення, і безбожного способу життя вже не буде.
