Ja, ich dürste nach Gott, nach dem lebendigen Gott. Wann darf ich in seinen Tempel kommen? Wann darf ich wieder vor ihn treten?

Tag und Nacht weine ich, Tränen sind meine einzige Speise, denn ständig verspottet man mich und fragt: »Wo bleibt er denn, dein Gott?«

Es bricht mir das Herz, wenn ich an früher denke: Da ging ich dem großen Festzug voran und führte ihn zum Haus Gottes. Da konnte ich Gott zujubeln und ihm danken inmitten der Menge!

Warum nur bin ich so traurig? Warum ist mein Herz so schwer? Auf Gott will ich hoffen, denn ich weiß: Ich werde ihm wieder danken. Er ist mein Gott, er wird mir beistehen!

Mein Gott, ich bin völlig verzweifelt! Aus der Ferne des Jordanlandes denke ich voll Trauer an dich. Während ich auf dem Berg Misar im Hermongebirge stehe, gehen meine Gedanken zu dir.

Von den Bergen stürzen Wildbäche tosend in die Tiefe. Mir ist zumute, als würden die Fluten mich mitreißen und fortspülen.

Tagsüber seufze ich: »HERR, schenke mir deine Gnade!« Und nachts singe und bete ich zu Gott, in dessen Hand mein Leben liegt.

Gott, du bist doch mein einziger Halt! Warum hast du mich vergessen? Warum lässt du mich leiden unter der Gewalt meiner Feinde?
