The Rechabites’ Obedience
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

Das Wort, das vom HERRN an Jeremia erging in den Tagen Jojakims, des Sohnes Joschijas, des Königs von Juda:
“Go to the house of the Rechabites and speak to them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.”
Geh hin zur Gemeinschaft der Rechabiter, rede mit ihnen, führ sie zum Haus des HERRN in eine der Hallen und gib ihnen Wein zu trinken!
Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons and the whole house of the Rechabites,
Da holte ich Jaasanja, den Sohn Jirmejas, des Sohnes Habazzinjas, samt seinen Brüdern und allen seinen Söhnen und der ganzen Gemeinschaft der Rechabiter.
and I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was near the chamber of the officials, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the doorkeeper.
Ich führte sie zum Haus des HERRN in die Halle der Söhne Hanans, des Sohnes Jigdaljas, des Gottesmannes, die neben der Halle der Großen oberhalb der Halle des Schwellenwächters Maaseja, des Sohnes Schallums, gelegen ist.
Then I set before the men of the house of the Rechabites pitchers full of wine and cups; and I said to them, “Drink wine!”
Dann setzte ich den Leuten von der Gemeinschaft der Rechabiter gefüllte Weinkrüge und Becher vor und sagte zu ihnen: Trinkt Wein!
But they said, “We will not drink wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, ‘You shall not drink wine, you or your sons, forever.
Sie aber entgegneten: Wir trinken keinen Wein; denn unser Ahnherr Jonadab, der Sohn Rechabs, hat uns geboten: Ihr sollt niemals Wein trinken, weder ihr selbst noch eure Söhne.
‘You shall not build a house, and you shall not sow seed and you shall not plant a vineyard or own one; but in tents you shall dwell all your days, that you may live many days in the land where you sojourn.’
Auch sollt ihr kein Haus bauen, keine Saat bestellen, keinen Weinberg pflanzen oder besitzen. Vielmehr sollt ihr euer Leben lang in Zelten wohnen, damit ihr lange lebt auf dem Ackerboden, auf dem ihr euch aufhaltet.
“We have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, in all that he commanded us, not to drink wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons or our daughters,
Wir gehorchten dem Auftrag unseres Ahnherrn Jonadab, des Sohnes Rechabs, in allem, was er uns gebot. Wir tranken also zeitlebens keinen Wein, weder wir noch unsere Frauen, Söhne und Töchter.
nor to build ourselves houses to dwell in; and we do not have vineyard or field or seed.
Wir bauten uns keine Häuser zum Wohnen, wir besaßen keinen Weinberg, keinen Acker und keine Saat.
“We have only dwelt in tents, and have obeyed and have done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
Wir wohnten in Zelten und gehorsam handelten wir genauso, wie unser Ahnherr Jonadab es uns geboten hat.
“But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against the land, we said, ‘Come and let us go to Jerusalem before the army of the Chaldeans and before the army of the Arameans.’ So we have dwelt in Jerusalem.”
Als jedoch Nebukadnezzar, der König von Babel, gegen das Land heranzog, da sagten wir: Kommt, wir wollen uns vor dem Heer der Chaldäer und dem Heer aus Aram nach Jerusalem begeben. So ließen wir uns in Jerusalem nieder.
Judah Rebuked
Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,
Nun erging das Wort des HERRN an Jeremia:
“Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Go and say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction by listening to My words?” declares the LORD.
So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Geh hin und sag zu den Leuten von Juda und zu den Einwohnern Jerusalems: Wollt ihr nicht Zucht annehmen und auf meine Worte hören? — Spruch des HERRN.
“The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are observed. So they do not drink wine to this day, for they have obeyed their father’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again; yet you have not listened to Me.
Die Worte Jonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, der seinen Söhnen das Weintrinken verboten hat, werden treu erfüllt; sie trinken keinen Wein bis zum heutigen Tag, weil sie dem Gebot ihres Ahnherrn gehorchen. Ich aber habe immer wieder zu euch geredet, doch ihr habt mir nicht gehorcht.
“Also I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, sending them again and again, saying: ‘Turn now every man from his evil way and amend your deeds, and do not go after other gods to worship them. Then you will dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your forefathers; but you have not inclined your ear or listened to Me.
Und immer wieder sandte ich zu euch alle meine Knechte, die Propheten, mit der Mahnung: Kehrt doch um, jeder von seinem schlechten Weg! Bessert euer Tun und lauft nicht anderen Göttern nach, um ihnen zu dienen! Dann dürft ihr in dem Land bleiben, das ich euch und euren Vätern gegeben habe. Ihr aber habt euer Ohr nicht geneigt und nicht auf mich gehört.
‘Indeed, the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have observed the command of their father which he commanded them, but this people has not listened to Me.’”’
Ja, die Söhne Jonadabs, des Sohnes Rechabs, haben das Gebot, das ihnen ihr Ahnherr gegeben hat, treu erfüllt. Dieses Volk aber hat mir nicht gehorcht.
“Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I am bringing on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; because I spoke to them but they did not listen, and I have called them but they did not answer.’”
Darum — so spricht der HERR, der Gott der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich bringe über Juda und über alle Einwohner Jerusalems das ganze Unheil, das ich ihnen angekündigt habe, weil sie nicht hörten, als ich zu ihnen redete, und keine Antwort gaben, als ich sie rief.
Then Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Because you have obeyed the command of Jonadab your father, kept all his commands and done according to all that he commanded you;
Zur Gemeinschaft der Rechabiter aber sagte Jeremia: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Weil ihr dem Gebot eures Ahnherrn Jonadab gehorcht, alle seine Gebote bewahrt und nach allen seinen Anordnungen gehandelt habt,
therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, “Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before Me always.”’”
darum — so spricht der HERR der Heerscharen, der Gott Israels: Niemals soll es Jonadab, dem Sohne Rechabs, an einem Nachkommen fehlen, der in meinem Dienst steht.
