Jerusalem’s Desolation Foretold
“As for you, son of man, take a sharp sword; take and use it as a barber’s razor on your head and beard. Then take scales for weighing and divide the hair.

Du, Menschensohn, nimm ein scharfes Schwert, als Schermesser nimm es her und führe es über dein Haupt und deinen Bart! Dann nimm eine Waage und teile die Haare!
“One third you shall burn in the fire at the center of the city, when the days of the siege are completed. Then you shall take one third and strike it with the sword all around the city, and one third you shall scatter to the wind; and I will unsheathe a sword behind them.
Ein Drittel verbrenne mitten in der Stadt, wenn die Tage der Belagerung zu Ende sind! Ein Drittel nimm und zerhau es mit dem Schwert rings um die Stadt! Ein Drittel streu in den Wind! Ich will hinter ihnen das Schwert zücken.
“Take also a few in number from them and bind them in the edges of your robes.
Dann nimm einen kleinen Teil davon und binde sie in einen Zipfel deines Mantels!
“Take again some of them and throw them into the fire and burn them in the fire; from it a fire will spread to all the house of Israel.
Aber auch von diesen nimm noch, wirf sie mitten ins Feuer und verbrenn sie im Feuer! Von dort wird Feuer ausgehen auf das ganze Haus Israel.
“Thus says the Lord GOD, ‘This is Jerusalem; I have set her at the center of the nations, with lands around her.
So spricht GOTT, der Herr: Das ist Jerusalem. Ich habe es mitten unter die Völker und die Länder ringsum gesetzt.
‘But she has rebelled against My ordinances more wickedly than the nations and against My statutes more than the lands which surround her; for they have rejected My ordinances and have not walked in My statutes.’
Aber es war widerspenstig gegen meine Rechtsentscheide, frevelhaft, mehr als die Völker, und gegen meine Satzungen, mehr als die Länder ringsum; denn meine Rechtsentscheide haben sie verachtet und in meinen Satzungen sind sie nicht gegangen.
“Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Because you have more turmoil than the nations which surround you and have not walked in My statutes, nor observed My ordinances, nor observed the ordinances of the nations which surround you,’
Darum — so spricht GOTT, der Herr: Weil ihr noch aufsässiger gewesen seid als die Völker rings um euch, weil ihr nicht in meinen Satzungen gegangen seid und meine Rechtsentscheide nicht befolgt habt, ja, weil ihr nicht einmal nach den Bräuchen der Völker rings um euch gehandelt habt,
therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, ‘Behold, I, even I, am against you, and I will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.
darum — so spricht GOTT, der Herr: Siehe, ich gehe gegen dich vor, ja ich. Vor den Augen der Völker werde ich mitten in dir Gericht halten.
‘And because of all your abominations, I will do among you what I have not done, and the like of which I will never do again.
Und ich werde an dir tun, was ich nie getan habe und auch nie wieder tun werde, wegen all deiner Gräueltaten.
‘Therefore, fathers will eat their sons among you, and sons will eat their fathers; for I will execute judgments on you and scatter all your remnant to every wind.
Darum werden Väter mitten in dir ihre Kinder essen und Kinder werden ihre Väter essen. Ich werde in dir Gericht halten und deinen Rest werde ich ganz und gar in alle Winde zerstreuen.
‘So as I live,’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘surely, because you have defiled My sanctuary with all your detestable idols and with all your abominations, therefore I will also withdraw, and My eye will have no pity and I will not spare.
Darum, so wahr ich lebe — Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn — , weil du mein Heiligtum mit all deinen Götzen und mit all deinen Gräueltaten unrein gemacht hast, will ich dich kahlscheren. Mein Auge wird kein Mitleid zeigen und ich — ja ich — werde keine Schonung üben.
‘One third of you will die by plague or be consumed by famine among you, one third will fall by the sword around you, and one third I will scatter to every wind, and I will unsheathe a sword behind them.
Ein Drittel von dir wird an der Pest sterben und am Hunger in deiner Mitte zugrunde gehen. Ein Drittel wird rings um dich her durch das Schwert fallen. Ein Drittel werde ich in alle Winde zerstreuen und ich werde hinter ihnen das Schwert zücken.
‘Thus My anger will be spent and I will satisfy My wrath on them, and I will be appeased; then they will know that I, the LORD, have spoken in My zeal when I have spent My wrath upon them.
So vollendet sich mein Zorn und ich stille meinen Grimm an ihnen und ich komme zur Ruhe. Wenn ich meinen Zorn an ihnen vollendet habe, dann erkennen sie, dass ich, der HERR, in meinem Eifer gesprochen habe.
‘Moreover, I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations which surround you, in the sight of all who pass by.
Ich mache dich zum Trümmerhaufen und zum Gespött bei den Nationen rings um dich her, vor den Augen eines jeden, der vorübergeht.
‘So it will be a reproach, a reviling, a warning and an object of horror to the nations who surround you when I execute judgments against you in anger, wrath and raging rebukes. I, the LORD, have spoken.
So wirst du zum Gespött und zum Hohn, zur Warnung und zum Schreckbild für die Nationen rings um dich her, wenn ich in dir Gericht halte mit Zorn und Grimm und mit grimmiger Züchtigung. Ich, der HERR, habe gesprochen.
‘When I send against them the deadly arrows of famine which were for the destruction of those whom I will send to destroy you, then I will also intensify the famine upon you and break the staff of bread.
Wenn ich die bösen Pfeile des Hungers abschicke, die Verderben bringen, schicke ich sie ab, um euch zu verderben. Um euren Hunger zu vergrößern, zerbreche ich euch den Brotstab.
‘Moreover, I will send on you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you of children; plague and bloodshed also will pass through you, and I will bring the sword on you. I, the LORD, have spoken.’”
Ich schicke Hungersnot und wilde Tiere gegen euch, damit sie dir deine Kinder rauben. Und Pest und Blut werden durch dich hindurchziehen. Ich bringe das Schwert über dich. Ich, der HERR, habe gesprochen.
