“Command the sons of Israel that they send away from the camp every leper and everyone having a discharge and everyone who is unclean because of a dead person.
»Befiehl den Israeliten, jeden aus dem Lager zu schicken, der aussätzig ist, eine Hautkrankheit hat oder an einem Ausfluss leidet. Es darf auch niemand dableiben, der einen Toten berührt hat und dadurch unrein geworden ist.
“You shall send away both male and female; you shall send them outside the camp so that they will not defile their camp where I dwell in their midst.”
Ganz gleich, ob es Männer oder Frauen sind, sie sollen das Lager verlassen, damit es nicht verunreinigt wird. Denn ich selbst wohne hier mitten unter euch!«
The sons of Israel did so and sent them outside the camp; just as the LORD had spoken to Moses, thus the sons of Israel did.
Die Israeliten gehorchten dem HERRN und schickten alle aus dem Lager, die nicht rein waren.
“Speak to the sons of Israel, ‘When a man or woman commits any of the sins of mankind, acting unfaithfully against the LORD, and that person is guilty,
»Ich gebe dir eine Anweisung, die für alle Israeliten gelten soll, ganz gleich ob Männer oder Frauen: Wer einen anderen Menschen auf irgendeine Weise betrügt, lehnt sich gegen mich, den HERRN, auf und macht sich schuldig.
then he shall confess his sins which he has committed, and he shall make restitution in full for his wrong and add to it one-fifth of it, and give it to him whom he has wronged.
Er soll sein Vergehen zugeben und alles zurückerstatten, was er dem anderen schuldet, ja sogar noch ein Fünftel des Wertes hinzufügen.
‘But if the man has no relative to whom restitution may be made for the wrong, the restitution which is made for the wrong must go to the LORD for the priest, besides the ram of atonement, by which atonement is made for him.
Wenn der Geschädigte aber inzwischen gestorben ist und keine Erben hat, die sein Eigentum an seiner Stelle zurücknehmen können, fällt es mir, dem HERRN, zu. Es soll den Priestern gehören, so wie der Schafbock, den der Priester für den Schuldigen opfern muss, damit ich seine Sünde vergebe.
‘Also every contribution pertaining to all the holy gifts of the sons of Israel, which they offer to the priest, shall be his.
Im Übrigen erhalten die Priester einen Anteil an allen Opfergaben, die von den Israeliten zum Heiligtum gebracht werden. Diese Anteile sollen allein den Priestern gehören.«
“Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘If any man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him,
»Sag den Israeliten: Angenommen, eine verheiratete Frau gerät auf Abwege. Sie wird ihrem Mann untreu
and a man has intercourse with her and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and she is undetected, although she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act,
und schläft mit einem anderen. Niemand hat sie bei ihrer Schuld ertappt: Ihr Mann hat sie nicht gesehen, und auch sonst gibt es keine Zeugen.
if a spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife when she has defiled herself, or if a spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife when she has not defiled herself,
Aber der Mann hat eine böse Ahnung. Die Eifersucht packt ihn, weil er meint, dass seine Frau ihn betrogen hat. Doch weiß er es nicht sicher, sie könnte auch unschuldig sein.
the man shall then bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring as an offering for her one-tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall not pour oil on it nor put frankincense on it, for it is a grain offering of jealousy, a grain offering of memorial, a reminder of iniquity.
In einem solchen Fall soll der Mann seine Frau zum Priester bringen. Er soll für sie eine Opfergabe von eineinhalb Kilogramm Gerstenmehl mitnehmen. Das Mehl darf nicht mit Öl übergossen oder mit Weihrauch bestreut werden, denn es dient als Eifersuchtsopfer, das den Verdacht vor Gott bringt und verborgene Schuld aufdeckt.
‘Then the priest shall bring her near and have her stand before the LORD,
Der Priester führt die Frau ins Heiligtum und lässt sie in die Gegenwart des HERRN treten.
and the priest shall take holy water in an earthenware vessel; and he shall take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water.
Er füllt geweihtes Wasser in ein Tongefäß und streut Erde vom Boden des Heiligtums hinein.
‘The priest shall then have the woman stand before the LORD and let the hair of the woman’s head go loose, and place the grain offering of memorial in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy, and in the hand of the priest is to be the water of bitterness that brings a curse.
Dann löst er das Haar der Frau und legt das Eifersuchtsopfer in ihre Hände. Er selbst hält das Wasser, das Fluch und Qual bringt.
‘The priest shall have her take an oath and shall say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you and if you have not gone astray into uncleanness, being under the authority of your husband, be immune to this water of bitterness that brings a curse;
Dann stellt der Priester die Frau unter Eid und sagt: ›Wenn du deinem Mann nicht untreu warst und nicht mit einem anderen geschlafen hast, soll dir dieses Wasser des Fluches und der Qual nichts anhaben.
if you, however, have gone astray, being under the authority of your husband, and if you have defiled yourself and a man other than your husband has had intercourse with you”
Aber wenn du die Ehe gebrochen und als verheiratete Frau mit einem anderen Mann geschlafen hast,
(then the priest shall have the woman swear with the oath of the curse, and the priest shall say to the woman), “the LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people by the LORD’S making your thigh waste away and your abdomen swell;
dann soll der HERR dich bestrafen! Dieses fluchbringende Wasser wird in deine Eingeweide eindringen. Es wird dich unfruchtbar machen und deinen Bauch anschwellen lassen. Mit Schrecken und Abscheu werden die Leute auf dich zeigen!‹ So warnt der Priester die Frau vor der drohenden Strafe. Und die Frau soll antworten: ›Amen, so soll es sein!‹
‘The priest shall then write these curses on a scroll, and he shall wash them off into the water of bitterness.
Dann schreibt der Priester den Fluch auf ein Blatt und taucht es in das Wasser, bis die Schrift sich auflöst.
‘Then he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings a curse, so that the water which brings a curse will go into her and cause bitterness.
Dieses Wasser muss die Frau später trinken, damit es in ihren Körper gelangt und der Fluch sie trifft.
‘The priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy from the woman’s hand, and he shall wave the grain offering before the LORD and bring it to the altar;
Vorher nimmt der Priester das Eifersuchtsopfer aus ihren Händen. Er schwingt es vor dem heiligen Zelt hin und her, um zu zeigen, dass es mir, dem HERRN, gehören soll; dann geht er damit zum Altar.
and the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering as its memorial offering and offer it up in smoke on the altar, and afterward he shall make the woman drink the water.
Hier lässt er eine Handvoll Mehl zu meinem Gedenken in Rauch aufgehen. Schließlich gibt er der Frau das Wasser zu trinken.
‘When he has made her drink the water, then it shall come about, if she has defiled herself and has been unfaithful to her husband, that the water which brings a curse will go into her and cause bitterness, and her abdomen will swell and her thigh will waste away, and the woman will become a curse among her people.
Wenn sie schuldig ist und ihrem Mann untreu war, wird sie schwer erkranken. Das Wasser wird sie unfruchtbar machen und ihren Unterleib aufblähen. Voller Schrecken und Abscheu werden die Leute sich von ihr fernhalten.
‘But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, she will then be free and conceive children.
Hat die Frau aber keine Schuld auf sich geladen, dann wird das Fluchwasser ihr nicht schaden, und sie wird weiter Kinder bekommen können.
‘This is the law of jealousy: when a wife, being under the authority of her husband, goes astray and defiles herself,
Dieses Gesetz gilt für den Fall, dass ein Mann seine Frau des Ehebruchs verdächtigt. Wenn ihn die Eifersucht packt und er glaubt, dass seine Frau sich schuldig gemacht hat und ihm untreu geworden ist, soll er sie zum Heiligtum bringen. Dann soll der Priester alles so ausführen, wie dieses Gesetz es vorschreibt.
