An einem Nachmittag gegen drei Uhr gingen Petrus und Johannes zum Tempel. Sie wollten dort am öffentlichen Gebet teilnehmen.
And a man who had been lame from his mother’s womb was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple.
Zur selben Zeit brachte man einen Mann, der von Geburt an gelähmt war, und setzte ihn an eine der Tempeltüren, an das sogenannte Schöne Tor. Er wurde jeden Tag dorthin getragen, damit er die Leute, die in den Tempel gingen, um Almosen anbetteln konnte.
When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms.
Als Petrus und Johannes den Tempel betreten wollten, bat er auch sie um Geld.
But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us!”
Sie blieben stehen, richteten den Blick auf ihn, und Petrus sagte: »Schau uns an!«
And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
Erwartungsvoll sah der Mann auf: Würde er etwas von ihnen bekommen?
But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene — walk!”
Doch Petrus sagte: »Geld habe ich nicht. Aber was ich habe, will ich dir geben. Im Namen von Jesus Christus aus Nazareth: Steh auf und geh!«
And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened.
Dabei fasste er den Gelähmten an der rechten Hand und richtete ihn auf. In demselben Augenblick konnte der Mann Füße und Gelenke gebrauchen.
With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
Er sprang auf und konnte sicher stehen, lief einige Schritte hin und her und ging dann mit Petrus und Johannes in den Tempel. Außer sich vor Freude rannte er umher, sprang in die Luft und lobte Gott.
and they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
Sie erkannten, dass es der Bettler war, der immer an dem Schönen Tor des Tempels gesessen hatte. Fassungslos und voller Staunen starrten sie den Geheilten an. Wieso konnte er jetzt laufen?
Peter’s Second Sermon
While he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the so-called portico of Solomon, full of amazement.
Alle drängten aufgeregt in die Halle Salomos. Dort umringten sie Petrus, Johannes und den Geheilten, der nicht von der Seite der Apostel wich.
But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk?
Als Petrus die vielen Menschen sah, sprach er zu ihnen: »Ihr Leute aus Israel! Warum wundert ihr euch darüber, dass dieser Mann jetzt gehen kann? Und weshalb starrt ihr uns an? Glaubt ihr denn, wir hätten diesen Gelähmten aus eigener Kraft geheilt oder weil wir so fromm sind?
“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.
Nein, es ist der Gott Abrahams, Isaaks und Jakobs, der Gott unserer Vorfahren, der uns mit dieser Wundertat die Macht und Ehre seines Dieners Jesus gezeigt hat. Diesen Jesus habt ihr an Pilatus ausgeliefert und verleugnet, obwohl Pilatus entschlossen war, ihn freizulassen.
“But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
Für den, der ganz zu Gott gehörte und ohne jede Schuld war, habt ihr das Todesurteil verlangt, aber den Mörder habt ihr begnadigt.
but put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.
Ihr habt den getötet, von dem alles Leben kommt. Aber Gott hat ihn von den Toten auferweckt. Das können wir bezeugen.
“And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.
Das Vertrauen auf Jesus und die Macht seines Namens haben diesen Mann hier vollständig geheilt. Ihr alle kennt ihn und wisst, dass er gelähmt war. Doch nun ist er vor euren Augen gesund geworden durch den Glauben, den Jesus in ihm geweckt hat.
“And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did also.
Ich weiß, liebe Brüder und Schwestern, euch war nicht klar, was ihr damals getan habt, und auch eure führenden Männer wussten es nicht.
“But the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.
Doch so hat Gott erfüllt, was er durch alle Propheten angekündigt hatte: Der von ihm versprochene Retter musste leiden.
“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;
Jetzt aber kehrt um und wendet euch Gott zu, damit er euch die Sünden vergibt.
and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,
Dann wird auch die Zeit kommen, in der Gott sich euch freundlich zuwendet. Er wird euch Jesus senden, den Retter, den er für euch bestimmt hat.
whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.
Jesus musste zuerst in den Himmel zurückkehren und dort seine Herrschaft antreten, aber die Zeit wird kommen, in der alles neu wird. Davon hat Gott schon immer durch seine auserwählten Propheten gesprochen.
“Moses said, ‘THE LORD GOD WILL RAISE UP FOR YOU A PROPHET LIKE ME FROM YOUR BRETHREN; TO HIM YOU SHALL GIVE HEED to everything He says to you.
Bereits Mose hat gesagt: ›Einen Propheten wie mich wird der Herr, euer Gott, zu euch senden, einen Mann aus eurem Volk. Ihr sollt alles befolgen, was er euch sagt.
‘And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
Wer aber nicht auf ihn hört, der soll aus dem Volk verstoßen werden.‹
“And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days.
Ebenso haben Samuel und alle Propheten nach ihm diese Zeit angekündigt.
“It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘AND IN YOUR SEED ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH SHALL BE BLESSED.’
Was diese Männer gesagt haben, gilt auch für euch. Ihr habt Anteil an dem Bund, den Gott mit euren Vorfahren geschlossen hat. Denn Gott sprach zu Abraham: ›Durch deinen Nachkommen sollen alle Völker der Erde gesegnet werden.‹
“For you first, God raised up His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.”
Gott hat Jesus, seinen Diener, zuerst zu euch geschickt, nachdem er ihn in diese Welt gesandt hatte, und ihn beauftragt, euch zu segnen. Er wird euch helfen, umzukehren und euer Leben zu ändern.«
