Da Christus im Fleisch gelitten hat, wappnet auch ihr euch mit diesem Gedanken, denn wer im Fleisch gelitten hat, für den hat die Sünde ein Ende.
so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
Darum richtet euch, solange ihr noch auf Erden lebt, nicht mehr nach den menschlichen Begierden, sondern nach dem Willen Gottes!
For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.
Denn lange genug habt ihr in der vergangenen Zeit getan, was die Heiden wollen, und habt ein ausschweifendes Leben voller Begierden geführt, habt getrunken, geprasst, gezecht und frevelhaften Götzenkult getrieben.
In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you;
Darüber sind sie empört und sie lästern, weil ihr euch nicht mehr mittreiben lasst im Strom der Leidenschaften.
but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
Aber sie werden vor dem Rechenschaft ablegen müssen, der schon bereitsteht, um die Lebenden und die Toten zu richten.
For the gospel has for this purpose been preached even to those who are dead, that though they are judged in the flesh as men, they may live in the spirit according to the will of God.
Denn auch Toten ist das Evangelium dazu verkündet worden, dass sie zwar wie Menschen gerichtet werden im Fleisch, aber wie Gott das Leben haben im Geist.
The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.
Das Ende aller Dinge ist nahe. Seid also besonnen und nüchtern und betet!
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
Vor allem haltet beharrlich fest an der Liebe zueinander; denn die Liebe deckt viele Sünden zu.
Be hospitable to one another without complaint.
Seid untereinander gastfreundlich, ohne zu murren!
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Dient einander als gute Verwalter der vielfältigen Gnade Gottes, jeder mit der Gabe, die er empfangen hat!
Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Wer redet, der rede mit den Worten, die Gott ihm gibt; wer dient, der diene aus der Kraft, die Gott verleiht. So wird in allem Gott verherrlicht durch Jesus Christus. Sein ist die Herrlichkeit und die Macht in alle Ewigkeit. Amen.
Share the Sufferings of Christ
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
Geliebte, lasst euch durch die Feuersglut, die zu eurer Prüfung über euch gekommen ist, nicht verwirren, als ob euch etwas Ungewöhnliches zustoße!
but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.
Stattdessen freut euch, dass ihr Anteil an den Leiden Christi habt; denn so könnt ihr auch bei der Offenbarung seiner Herrlichkeit voll Freude jubeln.
If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
Wenn ihr wegen des Namens Christi beschimpft werdet, seid ihr seligzupreisen; denn der Geist der Herrlichkeit, der Geist Gottes, ruht auf euch.
Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;
Wenn einer von euch leiden muss, soll es nicht deswegen sein, weil er ein Mörder oder ein Dieb ist, weil er Böses tut oder sich in fremde Angelegenheiten einmischt.
but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.
Wenn er aber leidet, weil er Christ ist, dann soll er sich nicht schämen, sondern Gott darin verherrlichen.
For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Denn jetzt ist die Zeit, in der das Gericht beim Haus Gottes beginnt; wenn es aber bei uns anfängt, wie wird dann das Ende derer sein, die dem Evangelium Gottes nicht gehorchen?
AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER?
Und wenn der Gerechte kaum gerettet wird, wo wird man dann die Frevler und Sünder finden?
