Wenn ein Mann eine Frau geheiratet hat und ihr Ehemann geworden ist, sie ihm dann aber nicht gefällt, weil er an ihr etwas Anstößiges entdeckt, wenn er ihr dann eine Scheidungsurkunde ausstellt, sie ihr übergibt und sie aus seinem Haus fortschickt,
and she leaves his house and goes and becomes another man’s wife,

and if the latter husband turns against her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her to be his wife,

dann darf sie ihr erster Mann, der sie fortgeschickt hat, nicht wieder heiraten, sodass sie wieder seine Frau würde, nachdem sie für ihn unberührbar geworden ist. Das wäre dem HERRN ein Gräuel. Du sollst das Land, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir als Erbbesitz gibt, nicht der Sünde verfallen lassen.
“When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army nor be charged with any duty; he shall be free at home one year and shall give happiness to his wife whom he has taken.
Wenn ein Mann neuvermählt ist, muss er nicht mit dem Heer ausrücken. Man soll auch keine andere Leistung von ihm verlangen. Ein Jahr lang darf er frei von Verpflichtungen zu Hause bleiben und die Frau, die er geheiratet hat, erfreuen.

“No one shall take a handmill or an upper millstone in pledge, for he would be taking a life in pledge.
Man darf nicht die Handmühle oder den oberen Mühlstein als Pfand nehmen; denn dann nimmt man das Leben selbst als Pfand.
“If a man is caught kidnapping any of his countrymen of the sons of Israel, and he deals with him violently or sells him, then that thief shall die; so you shall purge the evil from among you.
Wenn ein Mann dabei ertappt wird, wie er einen seiner Brüder, einen Israeliten, entführt, ihn als Sklaven kennzeichnet und verkauft, dann soll dieser Entführer sterben. Du sollst das Böse aus deiner Mitte wegschaffen.
“Be careful against an infection of leprosy, that you diligently observe and do according to all that the Levitical priests teach you; as I have commanded them, so you shall be careful to do.
Nimm dich in Acht, wenn Aussatz als Seuche auftritt! Achte genau auf alles, wozu euch die levitischen Priester anweisen, und haltet es! So wie ich es ihnen aufgetragen habe, sollt ihr darauf achten und es halten.
“Remember what the LORD your God did to Miriam on the way as you came out of Egypt.
Denkt an das, was der HERR, dein Gott, als ihr aus Ägypten zogt, unterwegs mit Mirjam getan hat!
“When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not enter his house to take his pledge.
Wenn du einem andern irgendein Darlehen gibst, sollst du, um das Pfand zu holen, nicht sein Haus betreten.
“You shall remain outside, and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you.
Du sollst draußen stehen bleiben und der Mann, dem du das Darlehen gibst, soll dir ein Pfand nach draußen bringen.
“If he is a poor man, you shall not sleep with his pledge.
Wenn er in Not ist, sollst du sein Pfand nicht über Nacht behalten.
“When the sun goes down you shall surely return the pledge to him, that he may sleep in his cloak and bless you; and it will be righteousness for you before the LORD your God.
Bei Sonnenuntergang sollst du ihm sein Pfand zurückgeben. Dann kann er in seinem Mantel schlafen, er wird dich segnen und du wirst vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, im Recht sein.
“You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your countrymen or one of your aliens who is in your land in your towns.
Du sollst einen notleidenden und armen Tagelöhner unter deinen Brüdern oder unter den Fremden, die in deinem Land innerhalb deiner Stadtbereiche wohnen, nicht ausbeuten.
“You shall give him his wages on his day before the sun sets, for he is poor and sets his heart on it; so that he will not cry against you to the LORD and it become sin in you.
An dem Tag, an dem er arbeitet, sollst du ihm auch seinen Lohn geben. Die Sonne soll darüber nicht untergehen; denn er ist in Not und lechzt danach. Dann wird er nicht den HERRN gegen dich anrufen und es wird keine Strafe für eine Sünde über dich kommen.
“Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin.
Väter sollen nicht wegen ihrer Söhne und Söhne nicht wegen ihrer Väter mit dem Tod bestraft werden. Jeder soll nur für sein eigenes Verbrechen mit dem Tod bestraft werden.
“You shall not pervert the justice due an alien or an orphan, nor take a widow’s garment in pledge.
Du sollst das Recht von Fremden, die Waisen sind, nicht beugen; du sollst das Kleid einer Witwe nicht als Pfand nehmen.
“But you shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and that the LORD your God redeemed you from there; therefore I am commanding you to do this thing.
Denk daran: Als du in Ägypten Sklave warst, hat dich der HERR, dein Gott, dort freigekauft. Darum mache ich es dir zur Pflicht, diese Bestimmung einzuhalten.
“When you reap your harvest in your field and have forgotten a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
Wenn du dein Feld aberntest und eine Garbe auf dem Feld vergisst, sollst du nicht umkehren, um sie zu holen. Sie soll den Fremden, Waisen und Witwen gehören, damit der HERR, dein Gott, dich bei jeder Arbeit deiner Hände segnet.
“When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow.
Wenn du einen Ölbaum abgeklopft hast, sollst du nicht auch noch die Zweige absuchen. Was noch hängt, soll den Fremden, Waisen und Witwen gehören.
“When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not go over it again; it shall be for the alien, for the orphan, and for the widow.
Wenn du in deinem Weinberg die Trauben geerntet hast, sollst du keine Nachlese halten. Sie soll den Fremden, Waisen und Witwen gehören.
