Im Übrigen, Brüder und Schwestern, bitten und ermahnen wir euch im Namen Jesu, des Herrn: Ihr habt von uns gelernt, wie ihr leben müsst, um Gott zu gefallen, und ihr lebt auch so; werdet darin noch vollkommener!
For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
Ihr wisst ja, welche Ermahnungen wir euch im Auftrag Jesu, des Herrn, gegeben haben.
For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;
Das ist es, was Gott will: eure Heiligung — dass ihr die Unzucht meidet,
that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
dass jeder von euch lernt, mit seiner Frau in heiliger und achtungsvoller Weise zu verkehren,
not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
nicht in leidenschaftlicher Begierde wie die Heiden, die Gott nicht kennen,
and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you.

For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.
Denn Gott hat uns nicht dazu berufen, unrein zu leben, sondern heilig zu sein.
So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.
Wer das verwirft, der verwirft also nicht Menschen, sondern Gott, der euch seinen Heiligen Geist schenkt.
Now as to the love of the brethren, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;
Über die Bruderliebe brauche ich euch nicht zu schreiben; Gott selbst hat euch schon gelehrt, einander zu lieben;
for indeed you do practice it toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, to excel still more,
und danach handelt ihr auch an allen, die zu uns gehören in ganz Mazedonien. Wir ermahnen euch aber, Brüder und Schwestern, darin noch vollkommener zu werden.
and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,
Setzt eure Ehre darein, ruhig zu leben, euch um die eigenen Aufgaben zu kümmern und mit euren Händen zu arbeiten, wie wir euch aufgetragen haben.
so that you will behave properly toward outsiders and not be in any need.
So sollt ihr vor denen, die nicht zu euch gehören, ein rechtschaffenes Leben führen und auf niemanden angewiesen sein.
Those Who Died in Christ
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
Brüder und Schwestern, wir wollen euch über die Entschlafenen nicht in Unkenntnis lassen, damit ihr nicht trauert wie die anderen, die keine Hoffnung haben.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
Denn wenn wir glauben, dass Jesus gestorben und auferstanden ist, so wird Gott die Entschlafenen durch Jesus in die Gemeinschaft mit ihm führen.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
Denn dies sagen wir euch nach einem Wort des Herrn: Wir, die Lebenden, die noch übrig sind bei der Ankunft des Herrn, werden den Entschlafenen nichts voraushaben.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Denn der Herr selbst wird vom Himmel herabkommen, wenn der Befehl ergeht, der Erzengel ruft und die Posaune Gottes erschallt. Zuerst werden die in Christus Verstorbenen auferstehen;
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
dann werden wir, die Lebenden, die noch übrig sind, zugleich mit ihnen auf den Wolken in die Luft entrückt zur Begegnung mit dem Herrn. Dann werden wir immer beim Herrn sein.
