God’s Charge to Joshua
Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying,

Nachdem Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, gestorben war, sagte der HERR zu Josua, dem Sohn Nuns, dem Diener des Mose:
“Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.
Mein Knecht Mose ist gestorben. Mach dich also auf den Weg und zieh über den Jordan hier mit diesem ganzen Volk in das Land, das ich ihnen, den Israeliten, geben werde!
“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.
Jeden Ort, den euer Fuß betreten wird, gebe ich euch, wie ich es Mose versprochen habe.
“From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.
Euer Gebiet soll von der Steppe und vom Libanon an bis zum großen Strom, zum Eufrat, reichen — das ist das ganze Land der Hetiter — und bis hin zum großen Meer, wo die Sonne untergeht.
“No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.
Niemand wird dir Widerstand leisten können, solange du lebst. Wie ich mit Mose war, will ich auch mit dir sein. Ich lasse dich nicht fallen und verlasse dich nicht.
“Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
Sei mutig und stark! Denn du sollst diesem Volk das Land zum Besitz geben, von dem du weißt: Ich habe ihren Vätern geschworen, es ihnen zu geben.
“Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.
Sei ganz mutig und stark und achte genau darauf, dass du ganz nach der Weisung handelst, die mein Knecht Mose dir gegeben hat! Weich nicht nach rechts und nicht nach links davon ab, damit du Erfolg hast überall, wo du unterwegs bist!
“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.
Über dieses Buch der Weisung sollst du immer reden und Tag und Nacht darüber nachsinnen, damit du darauf achtest, genauso zu handeln, wie darin geschrieben steht. Dann wirst du auf deinem Weg Glück und Erfolg haben.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Habe ich dir nicht befohlen: Sei mutig und stark? Fürchte dich also nicht und hab keine Angst; denn der HERR, dein Gott, ist mit dir überall, wo du unterwegs bist.
Joshua Assumes Command
Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
Da befahl Josua den Listenführern im Volk:
“Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you are to cross this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, to possess it.’”
Geht durch das Lager und befehlt den Leuten: Versorgt euch mit Lebensmitteln; denn in drei Tagen werdet ihr den Jordan hier überschreiten, um in das Land hineinzuziehen und es in Besitz zu nehmen, das der HERR, euer Gott, euch zu eigen gibt.
To the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,
Und den Rubenitern, den Gaditern und dem halben Stamm Manasse sagte Josua:
“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, ‘The LORD your God gives you rest and will give you this land.’
Erinnert euch an das, was Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, euch geboten hat: Der HERR, euer Gott, gewährt euch Ruhe und gibt euch dieses Land.
“Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle shall remain in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but you shall cross before your brothers in battle array, all your valiant warriors, and shall help them,
Eure Frauen, eure Kinder und euer Vieh sollen in dem Land bleiben, das Mose euch östlich des Jordan gegeben hat. Ihr aber sollt mit euren Brüdern hinübergehen, ihnen kampfbereit mit allen Kriegern voranziehen und ihnen helfen,
until the LORD gives your brothers rest, as He gives you, and they also possess the land which the LORD your God is giving them. Then you shall return to your own land, and possess that which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.”
bis der HERR euren Brüdern ebenso wie euch Ruhe gewährt und bis auch sie das Land in Besitz nehmen, das der HERR, euer Gott, ihnen gibt. Dann sollt ihr in euren eigenen Besitz zurückkehren, in das Land, das euch Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, östlich des Jordan gegen Sonnenaufgang als Besitz gegeben hat.
They answered Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.
Sie antworteten Josua: Alles, was du uns befohlen hast, wollen wir tun und überall, wohin du uns schickst, werden wir gehen.
“Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you; only may the LORD your God be with you as He was with Moses.
Genauso, wie wir auf Mose gehört haben, wollen wir auch auf dich hören. Der HERR aber, dein Gott, möge mit dir sein, wie er mit Mose gewesen ist.
“Anyone who rebels against your command and does not obey your words in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous.”
Jeder, der sich deinem Befehl widersetzt und nicht allen deinen Anordnungen gehorcht, soll mit dem Tod bestraft werden. Sei nur mutig und stark!
