Noch etwas möchte ich euch ans Herz legen, liebe Brüder und Schwestern: Betet für uns, damit sich die Botschaft des Herrn schnell verbreitet und überall mit Dank Gott gegenüber angenommen wird — wie schon bei euch.
and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.
Bittet Gott auch darum, er möge uns vor den Angriffen niederträchtiger und boshafter Menschen schützen; denn nicht jeder will an den Herrn glauben.
But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.
Der Herr aber ist treu. Er wird euch Kraft geben und euch vor dem Bösen bewahren.
We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.
Im Vertrauen auf den Herrn sind wir zuversichtlich, dass ihr euch jetzt und in Zukunft an unsere Anweisungen haltet.
May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ.

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us.
Liebe Brüder und Schwestern! Im Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus fordern wir euch auf: Meidet den Umgang mit allen in der Gemeinde, die ihre Arbeit vernachlässigen und nicht so leben, wie wir es euch gelehrt und aufgetragen haben.
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you,
Ihr wisst ja selbst, dass ihr auch darin unserem Beispiel folgen sollt. Denn wir haben uns nicht vor der Arbeit gedrückt, als wir bei euch waren.
nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;
Oder haben wir jemals auf Kosten anderer gelebt? Im Gegenteil: Tag und Nacht haben wir gearbeitet und uns abgemüht, um niemandem von euch zur Last zu fallen.
not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, so that you would follow our example.
Wir hätten zwar von euch Unterstützung verlangen können, doch wir wollten euch ein Vorbild sein, dem ihr folgen sollt.
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
Schon damals haben wir euch den Grundsatz eingeschärft: Wer nicht arbeiten will, der soll auch nicht essen.
For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.
Trotzdem haben wir gehört, dass einige von euch kein geordnetes Leben führen, nicht arbeiten und sich nur herumtreiben.
Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.
Sie alle fordern wir im Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus nachdrücklich auf, einer geregelten Arbeit nachzugehen und für ihren Lebensunterhalt selbst zu sorgen.
But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.
Liebe Brüder und Schwestern, werdet nicht müde, Gutes zu tun!
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.
Sollte sich jemand unter euch weigern, den Anweisungen in diesem Brief zu folgen, dann sprecht dies deutlich an und zieht euch von ihm zurück, damit er sich für sein Verhalten schämt.
Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Behandelt solche Menschen dabei nicht als eure Feinde, sondern ermahnt sie als Brüder und Schwestern.
Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!
Unser Herr, von dem aller Friede kommt, schenke euch zu jeder Zeit seinen Frieden, was auch immer geschieht. Er sei mit euch allen!
