The Angel and the Little Book
I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud; and the rainbow was upon his head, and his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire;

Und ich sah: Ein anderer gewaltiger Engel kam aus dem Himmel herab; er war von einer Wolke umhüllt und der Regenbogen stand über seinem Haupt. Sein Gesicht war wie die Sonne und seine Beine waren wie Feuersäulen.
and he had in his hand a little book which was open. He placed his right foot on the sea and his left on the land;
In der Hand hielt er ein geöffnetes kleines Buch. Er setzte seinen rechten Fuß auf das Meer, den linken auf das Land
and he cried out with a loud voice, as when a lion roars; and when he had cried out, the seven peals of thunder uttered their voices.
und rief laut, so wie ein Löwe brüllt. Nachdem er gerufen hatte, erhoben die sieben Donner ihre Stimme.
When the seven peals of thunder had spoken, I was about to write; and I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up the things which the seven peals of thunder have spoken and do not write them.”
Als die sieben Donner gesprochen hatten, wollte ich es aufschreiben. Da hörte ich eine Stimme vom Himmel her rufen: Versiegle, was die sieben Donner gesprochen haben; schreib es nicht auf!
Then the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land lifted up his right hand to heaven,
Und der Engel, den ich auf dem Meer und auf dem Land stehen sah, erhob seine rechte Hand zum Himmel.
and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, WHO CREATED HEAVEN AND THE THINGS IN IT, AND THE EARTH AND THE THINGS IN IT, AND THE SEA AND THE THINGS IN IT, that there will be delay no longer,
Er schwor bei dem, der in alle Ewigkeit lebt, der den Himmel erschaffen hat und was darin ist, die Erde und was darauf ist, und das Meer und was darin ist: Es wird keine Zeit mehr bleiben,
but in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets.
sondern in den Tagen, wenn der siebte Engel seine Stimme erhebt und seine Posaune bläst, wird auch das Geheimnis Gottes vollendet sein; so hatte er es seinen Knechten, den Propheten, verkündet.
Then the voice which I heard from heaven, I heard again speaking with me, and saying, “Go, take the book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the land.”
Und die Stimme aus dem Himmel, die ich gehört hatte, sprach noch einmal zu mir und sagte: Geh, nimm das Buch, das der Engel, der auf dem Meer und auf dem Land steht, geöffnet in der Hand hält!
So I went to the angel, telling him to give me the little book. And he said to me, “Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.”
Und ich ging zu dem Engel und bat ihn, mir das kleine Buch zu geben. Er sagte zu mir: Nimm und iss es! In deinem Magen wird es bitter sein, in deinem Mund aber süß wie Honig.
I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and in my mouth it was sweet as honey; and when I had eaten it, my stomach was made bitter.
Da nahm ich das kleine Buch aus der Hand des Engels und aß es. In meinem Mund war es süß wie Honig. Als ich es aber gegessen hatte, wurde mein Magen bitter.
