Samuel Addresses Israel
Then Samuel said to all Israel, “Behold, I have listened to your voice in all that you said to me and I have appointed a king over you.

Samuel sagte zu ganz Israel: Ihr wisst, ich habe in allem, was ihr mir gesagt habt, auf euch gehört und einen König bei euch eingesetzt.
“Now, here is the king walking before you, but I am old and gray, and behold my sons are with you. And I have walked before you from my youth even to this day.
Seht, hier ist nun der König, der vor euch hergehen wird. Ich selbst bin alt und grau geworden und meine Söhne leben ja mitten unter euch. Von meiner Jugend an bis zum heutigen Tag bin ich vor euch hergegangen.
“Here I am; bear witness against me before the LORD and His anointed. Whose ox have I taken, or whose donkey have I taken, or whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed, or from whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with it? I will restore it to you.”
Hier stehe ich; antwortet mir in Gegenwart des HERRN und seines Gesalbten: Wem habe ich je ein Rind weggenommen? Wem habe ich einen Esel weggenommen? Wen habe ich übervorteilt, wen ungerecht behandelt? Von wem habe ich Bestechungsgeld angenommen und habe beide Augen zugedrückt? Ich will es euch zurückerstatten.
They said, “You have not defrauded us or oppressed us or taken anything from any man’s hand.”
Sie antworteten: Du hast uns weder übervorteilt noch ungerecht behandelt, noch hast du von jemand etwas angenommen.
He said to them, “The LORD is witness against you, and His anointed is witness this day that you have found nothing in my hand.” And they said, “He is witness.”
Er sagte zu ihnen: Der HERR ist Zeuge euch gegenüber und auch sein Gesalbter ist heute Zeuge dafür, dass ihr mir nichts vorwerfen könnt. Sie erwiderten: Sie sind Zeugen.
Then Samuel said to the people, “It is the LORD who appointed Moses and Aaron and who brought your fathers up from the land of Egypt.
Und Samuel sagte zum Volk: Der HERR ist es gewesen, der Mose und Aaron erschaffen und eure Väter aus Ägypten heraufgeführt hat.
“So now, take your stand, that I may plead with you before the LORD concerning all the righteous acts of the LORD which He did for you and your fathers.
Tretet zu mir, damit ich vor den Augen des HERRN mit euch ins Gericht gehe wegen all der Wohltaten des HERRN, die er euch und euren Vätern erwiesen hat!
“When Jacob went into Egypt and your fathers cried out to the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron who brought your fathers out of Egypt and settled them in this place.
Als Jakob nach Ägypten gekommen war und eure Väter zum HERRN schrien, da sandte der HERR Mose und Aaron. Sie führten eure Väter aus Ägypten heraus und gaben ihnen Wohnsitze an diesem Ort.
“But they forgot the LORD their God, so He sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the army of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.
Doch sie vergaßen den HERRN, ihren Gott. Da lieferte er sie in die Hand Siseras, des Feldherrn von Hazor, in die Hand der Philister und in die Hand des Königs von Moab aus und diese führten Krieg gegen sie.
“They cried out to the LORD and said, ‘We have sinned because we have forsaken the LORD and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’
Da schrien sie zum HERRN und sagten: Wir haben gesündigt; denn wir haben den HERRN verlassen und den Baalen und Astarten gedient. Befrei uns jetzt aus der Hand unserer Feinde; wir wollen wieder dir dienen.
“Then the LORD sent Jerubbaal and Bedan and Jephthah and Samuel, and delivered you from the hands of your enemies all around, so that you lived in security.
Darauf sandte der HERR Jerubbaal, Bedan, Jiftach und Samuel und befreite euch aus der Hand eurer Feinde ringsumher, sodass ihr in Sicherheit leben konntet.
The King Confirmed
“When you saw that Nahash the king of the sons of Ammon came against you, you said to me, ‘No, but a king shall reign over us,’ although the LORD your God was your king.
Als ihr aber saht, dass Nahasch, der König der Ammoniter, gegen euch ausrückte, sagtet ihr zu mir: Nein, ein König soll über uns herrschen!, obwohl doch der HERR, euer Gott, euer König ist.
“Now therefore, here is the king whom you have chosen, whom you have asked for, and behold, the LORD has set a king over you.
Seht, hier ist euer König, den ihr verlangt und den ihr euch erwählt habt. Ja, der HERR hat euch einen König gegeben:
“If you will fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God.
insofern ihr den HERRN fürchtet und ihm dient und auf seine Stimme hört und euch dem Befehl des HERRN nicht widersetzt und sowohl ihr als auch der König, der über euch herrscht, dem HERRN, eurem Gott folgt.
“If you will not listen to the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the command of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD will be against you, as it was against your fathers.
Insofern ihr aber nicht auf die Stimme des HERRN hört und euch dem Befehl des HERRN widersetzt, wird die Hand des HERRN gegen euch wie gegen eure Väter sein.
“Even now, take your stand and see this great thing which the LORD will do before your eyes.
Nun tretet her und seht die große Tat mit an, die der HERR vor euren Augen vollbringen wird!
“Is it not the wheat harvest today? I will call to the LORD, that He may send thunder and rain. Then you will know and see that your wickedness is great which you have done in the sight of the LORD by asking for yourselves a king.”
Ist jetzt nicht gerade Weizenernte? Ich werde zum HERRN rufen und er wird Gewitter und Regen schicken. So werdet ihr erkennen und einsehen, wie groß euer Unrecht in den Augen des HERRN ist, das ihr dadurch begangen habt, dass ihr für euch einen König verlangt habt.
So Samuel called to the LORD, and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day; and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.
Samuel rief zum HERRN und der HERR schickte noch am gleichen Tag Gewitter und Regen. Da geriet das ganze Volk in große Furcht vor dem HERRN und vor Samuel
Then all the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to the LORD your God, so that we may not die, for we have added to all our sins this evil by asking for ourselves a king.”
und alle sagten zu Samuel: Bete für deine Knechte zum HERRN, deinem Gott, damit wir nicht umkommen; denn wir haben all unseren Sünden noch die Bosheit hinzugefügt, einen König für uns zu verlangen.
Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.
Samuel erwiderte dem Volk: Fürchtet euch nicht! Ihr habt all dieses Böse getan; doch weicht nicht mehr von der Nachfolge des HERRN ab und dient dem HERRN mit ganzem Herzen!
“You must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which can not profit or deliver, because they are futile.
Weicht ja nicht ab und folgt nicht den nichtigen Göttern, die nichts nützen und nicht retten können, weil sie nichtig sind!
“For the LORD will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the LORD has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.
Um seines großen Namens willen wird der HERR sein Volk nicht verstoßen; denn er hat sich entschlossen, euch zu seinem Volk zu machen.
“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way.
Auch mir selbst sei es fern, mich am HERRN zu versündigen, und ich höre deshalb nicht auf, für euch zu beten; ich werde euch den guten und geraden Weg weisen.
“Only fear the LORD and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.
Nur fürchtet den HERRN und dient ihm treu und von ganzem Herzen! Denn ihr seht, welch große Dinge er an euch getan hat.
