David Protected from Saul

Saul machte vor seinem Sohn Jonatan und vor allen Bediensteten kein Geheimnis daraus, dass er David ermorden wollte. Jonatan aber liebte David sehr.
So Jonathan told David saying, “Saul my father is seeking to put you to death. Now therefore, please be on guard in the morning, and stay in a secret place and hide yourself.
Darum warnte er ihn: »Sei vorsichtig, mein Vater will dich umbringen! Es ist besser, wenn du dich morgen früh hier nicht zeigst. Such dir draußen ein gutes Versteck und verhalte dich ruhig!
“I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak with my father about you; if I find out anything, then I will tell you.”
Ich selbst will morgen meinen Vater aufs freie Feld hinaus begleiten. Sobald wir in der Nähe deines Verstecks sind, will ich mit ihm über dich sprechen und versuchen herauszufinden, wie die Dinge stehen. Was er mir sagt, will ich dir berichten.«
Then Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Do not let the king sin against his servant David, since he has not sinned against you, and since his deeds have been very beneficial to you.
Als Jonatan am nächsten Morgen mit seinem Vater sprach, legte er ein gutes Wort für David ein und warnte den König, sich an seinem Diener zu vergreifen. »David hat dir doch noch nie irgendeinen Schaden zugefügt«, versuchte er seinem Vater klarzumachen. »Im Gegenteil: Er hat dir nur genutzt.
“For he took his life in his hand and struck the Philistine, and the LORD brought about a great deliverance for all Israel; you saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by putting David to death without a cause?”
Hast du vergessen, wie er sein Leben aufs Spiel setzte, als er den Philister tötete? Und wie der HERR durch ihn den Israeliten zu einem großen Sieg über die Philister verhalf? Du warst doch damals dabei und hast dich mit allen anderen gefreut. Warum willst du diesen unschuldigen Mann nun ermorden? Du lädst schwere Schuld auf dich, wenn du David ohne jeden Grund umbringst.«
Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul vowed, “As the LORD lives, he shall not be put to death.”
Da ließ Saul sich von Jonatan umstimmen. Er schwor: »So wahr der HERR lebt: David soll nicht getötet werden.«
Then Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all these words. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as formerly.
Jonatan rief David aus seinem Versteck heraus und berichtete ihm alles. Zusammen gingen sie zu Saul, und David diente dem König wie vorher.
When there was war again, David went out and fought with the Philistines and defeated them with great slaughter, so that they fled before him.
Beim nächsten Krieg gegen die Philister zog David mit seiner Truppe aus. Auch diesmal schlug er die Feinde vernichtend, so dass ihnen nur noch die Flucht übrig blieb.
Now there was an evil spirit from the LORD on Saul as he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand, and David was playing the harp with his hand.
Eines Tages, als Saul mit seinem Speer in der Hand zu Hause saß und Davids Spiel auf der Laute zuhörte, ließ der HERR wieder einen bösen Geist über ihn kommen.
Saul tried to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, so that he stuck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.
Wütend schleuderte Saul den Speer nach David, um ihn an die Wand zu spießen. Doch David sprang zur Seite, die Waffe flog an ihm vorbei und blieb in der Wand stecken. Er floh in sein Haus und beschloss, noch in derselben Nacht die Stadt zu verlassen.
Then Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, in order to put him to death in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be put to death.”
Saul ließ Davids Haus sofort von Wachposten umstellen. Sie sollten David töten, sobald er am Morgen das Haus verließ. Davids Frau Michal warnte ihren Mann: »Wenn du dich heute Nacht nicht in Sicherheit bringst, bist du morgen früh tot.«
So Michal let David down through a window, and he went out and fled and escaped.
Sie ließ ihn aus einem Fenster an der Hausmauer hinunter. David floh, so schnell er konnte, und entkam seinen Mördern.
Michal took the household idol and laid it on the bed, and put a quilt of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with clothes.
Michal legte eine Götterfigur in Davids Bett, deckte sie sorgsam zu und legte ihr ein Geflecht aus Ziegenhaaren auf den Kopf.
When Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”
Als Sauls Männer David holen wollten, sagte Michal ihnen: »Er liegt krank im Bett.«
Then Saul sent messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me on his bed, that I may put him to death.”
Darauf befahl der König: »Dann bringt ihn eben samt Bett zu mir! Ich werde ihn umbringen!«
When the messengers entered, behold, the household idol was on the bed with the quilt of goats’ hair at its head.
Die Diener gingen noch einmal zu Davids Haus und fanden in Davids Bett die Götterfigur mit dem Geflecht aus Ziegenhaaren.
So Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me like this and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” And Michal said to Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! Why should I put you to death?’”
»Warum hast du mich betrogen und meinem Feind zur Flucht verholfen?«, stellte Saul seine Tochter zur Rede. Sie antwortete: »Er drohte: ›Ich bringe dich um, wenn du mich nicht gehen lässt.‹«
Now David fled and escaped and came to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth.
Durch seine Flucht war David den Händen Sauls entronnen. Er floh zu Samuel nach Rama und erzählte ihm alles, was Saul ihm angetan hatte. Danach gingen die beiden zur Siedlung der Propheten und blieben dort.
It was told Saul, saying, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”
Sobald Saul hörte, dass David sich in der Prophetensiedlung in Rama aufhielt,
Then Saul sent messengers to take David, but when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing and presiding over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul; and they also prophesied.
schickte er Männer hin, die David gefangen nehmen sollten. Als sie dort ankamen, weissagten die Propheten gerade unter der Leitung Samuels. Kaum sahen das die Boten Sauls, kam der Geist Gottes über sie, so dass auch sie prophetisch zu reden begannen.
When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. So Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
Als Saul davon erfuhr, schickte er sogleich andere Boten nach Rama. Doch es ging ihnen nicht anders als den ersten. Und auch die dritte Gruppe, die der König nach Rama sandte, fing sofort an zu reden, was Gott ihnen eingab.
Then he himself went to Ramah and came as far as the large well that is in Secu; and he asked and said, “Where are Samuel and David?” And someone said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”
Schließlich machte Saul sich selbst auf den Weg. Als er zu der großen Zisterne in Sechu kam, fragte er jemanden: »Wo sind Samuel und David?« »In der Prophetensiedlung in Rama«, bekam er zur Antwort.
He proceeded there to Naioth in Ramah; and the Spirit of God came upon him also, so that he went along prophesying continually until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
Schon auf dem Weg dorthin kam Gottes Geist auch auf Saul und ließ ihn sogleich voller Hingabe Prophezeiungen aussprechen. So erreichte Saul die Siedlung der Propheten in Rama.
He also stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”
Dort zog er sein Obergewand aus und weissagte vor Samuels Augen so lange weiter, bis er schließlich hinfiel. Den ganzen Tag und auch die ganze folgende Nacht blieb er halb nackt am Boden liegen. Daher gebraucht man noch heute die Redensart: »Gehört Saul auch zu den Propheten?«
