The Priests Slain at Nob

Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.
Auch schlossen sich ihm viele Männer an, die unter Druck standen, sowie alle möglichen Leute, die Schulden hatten oder verbittert waren, und er wurde ihr Anführer. So waren etwa vierhundert Mann um ihn.
And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”
Von dort zog David nach Mizpe-Moab und sagte zum König von Moab: Dürfen mein Vater und meine Mutter mit euch wegziehen, bis ich weiß, was Gott mit mir vorhat?
Then he left them with the king of Moab; and they stayed with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

The prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah.” So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.
Der Prophet Gad aber sagte zu David: Bleib nicht in der Bergfeste, sondern zieh weg und geh wieder ins Land Juda! Und David zog weg und kam nach Jaar-Heret.
Then Saul heard that David and the men who were with him had been discovered. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree on the height with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
Saul hörte, David und die Männer, die er bei sich hatte, seien entdeckt worden. Er saß gerade in Gibea unter der Tamariske auf der Höhe. Er hatte den Speer in der Hand und alle seine Diener standen um ihn herum.
Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, O Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse also give to all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?
Da sagte Saul zu seinen Dienern, die um ihn standen: Hört her, ihr Benjaminiter! Euch allen wird wohl der Sohn Isais Felder und Weinberge geben und euch zu Obersten von Tausendschaften und Hundertschaften machen,
“For all of you have conspired against me so that there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a covenant with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me to lie in ambush, as it is this day.”
weil ihr euch alle gegen mich verschworen habt. Keiner hat mir etwas davon gesagt, als mein Sohn einen Bund mit dem Sohn Isais schloss, und keinem tat es leid um mich, sodass er mir mitgeteilt hätte, dass mein Sohn meinen Knecht dazu angestiftet hat, mir aufzulauern, wie es jetzt der Fall ist.
Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing by the servants of Saul, said, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
Da antwortete der Edomiter Doëg, der bei den Dienern Sauls stand: Ich habe den Sohn Isais gesehen, wie er gerade nach Nob zu Ahimelech, dem Sohn Ahitubs, kam.
“He inquired of the LORD for him, gave him provisions, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
Ahimelech befragte für ihn den HERRN und gab ihm Verpflegung; auch das Schwert des Philisters Goliat gab er ihm.
Then the king sent someone to summon Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s household, the priests who were in Nob; and all of them came to the king.
Darauf schickte der König jemand hin und ließ den Priester Ahimelech, den Sohn Ahitubs, rufen sowie alle vom Haus seines Vaters, die Priester von Nob. Als sie alle zum König gekommen waren,
Saul said, “Listen now, son of Ahitub.” And he answered, “Here I am, my lord.”
sagte Saul: Hör her, Sohn Ahitubs! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich, mein Herr.
Saul then said to him, “Why have you and the son of Jesse conspired against me, in that you have given him bread and a sword and have inquired of God for him, so that he would rise up against me by lying in ambush as it is this day?”
Saul sagte zu ihm: Warum habt ihr euch gegen mich verschworen, du und der Sohn Isais? Du hast ihm doch Brot und ein Schwert gegeben und für ihn Gott befragt, sodass er sich gegen mich erheben und mir auflauern kann, wie es heute der Fall ist.
Then Ahimelech answered the king and said, “And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, even the king’s son-in-law, who is captain over your guard, and is honored in your house?
Ahimelech erwiderte dem König: Wer hat sich denn von allen deinen Dienern so sehr bewährt wie David, der Schwiegersohn des Königs, der Anführer deiner Leibwache, der in deinem Haus hochgeehrt ist?
“Did I just begin to inquire of God for him today? Far be it from me! Do not let the king impute anything to his servant or to any of the household of my father, for your servant knows nothing at all of this whole affair.”
Habe ich denn erst heute begonnen, für ihn Gott zu befragen? Keineswegs! Der König möge seinem Knecht und dem ganzen Haus meines Vaters nichts unterstellen; denn dein Knecht hat von alldem nichts gewusst, weder Wichtiges noch Unwichtiges.
But the king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s household!”
Doch der König sagte: Du bist dem Tod verfallen, Ahimelech, du und das ganze Haus deines Vaters.
And the king said to the guards who were attending him, “Turn around and put the priests of the LORD to death, because their hand also is with David and because they knew that he was fleeing and did not reveal it to me.” But the servants of the king were not willing to put forth their hands to attack the priests of the LORD.
Und der König sagte den Läufern, die bei ihm standen: Umzingelt die Priester des HERRN und tötet sie! Denn auch sie haben David die Hand gereicht; sie haben gewusst, dass er auf der Flucht war, und mir nichts davon berichtet. Aber die Diener des Königs wollten ihre Hand nicht erheben, um die Priester des HERRN niederzustoßen.
Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn around and attack the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned around and attacked the priests, and he killed that day eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod.
Da sagte der König zu Doëg: Komm her, stoß du die Priester nieder! Der Edomiter Doëg ging zu den Priestern hin und stieß sie nieder. Er brachte an jenem Tag fünfundachtzig Männer um, die das leinene Efod trugen.
And he struck Nob the city of the priests with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and infants; also oxen, donkeys, and sheep he struck with the edge of the sword.
Auch die Priesterstadt Nob schlug er mit scharfem Schwert: Männer und Frauen, Kinder und Säuglinge, Rinder, Esel und Schafe mit scharfem Schwert.
But one son of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
Nur ein einziger Sohn Ahimelechs, des Sohnes Ahitubs, namens Abjatar konnte sich in Sicherheit bringen und zu David fliehen.
Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the LORD.
Abjatar berichtete David, dass Saul die Priester des HERRN umgebracht hatte.
Then David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have brought about the death of every person in your father’s household.
Da sagte David zu Abjatar: Ich wusste schon an jenem Tag, als der Edomiter Doëg dort war, dass er Saul bestimmt alles berichten werde. Ich selbst bin schuld am Tod all der Leute aus dem Haus deines Vaters.
