So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed him. Then he commanded him: “Do not marry a Canaanite woman.

Mach dich auf, geh nach Paddan-Aram, zum Haus Betuëls, des Vaters deiner Mutter! Hol dir von dort eine Frau, eine von den Töchtern Labans, des Bruders deiner Mutter!
El-Schaddai wird dich segnen, er wird dich fruchtbar machen und vermehren: Zu einer Schar von Völkern wirst du werden.
May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now reside as a foreigner, the land God gave to Abraham.”
Er wird dir den Segen Abrahams geben, dir und deinen Nachkommen bei dir, damit du das Land in Besitz nimmst, in dem du als Fremder lebst, das aber Gott Abraham gegeben hat.
Then Isaac sent Jacob on his way, and he went to Paddan Aram, to Laban son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, who was the mother of Jacob and Esau.
Isaak entließ Jakob und er zog nach Paddan-Aram zu Laban, dem Sohn des Aramäers Betuël, dem Bruder Rebekkas, der Mutter Jakobs und Esaus.
Now Esau learned that Isaac had blessed Jacob and had sent him to Paddan Aram to take a wife from there, and that when he blessed him he commanded him, “Do not marry a Canaanite woman,”

When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep.
Er kam an einen bestimmten Ort und übernachtete dort, denn die Sonne war untergegangen. Er nahm einen von den Steinen dieses Ortes, legte ihn unter seinen Kopf und schlief dort ein.
He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
Da hatte er einen Traum: Siehe, eine Treppe stand auf der Erde, ihre Spitze reichte bis zum Himmel. Und siehe: Auf ihr stiegen Engel Gottes auf und nieder.
Und siehe, der HERR stand vor ihm und sprach: Ich bin der HERR, der Gott deines Vaters Abraham und der Gott Isaaks. Das Land, auf dem du liegst, will ich dir und deinen Nachkommen geben.
Deine Nachkommen werden zahlreich sein wie der Staub auf der Erde. Du wirst dich nach Westen und Osten, nach Norden und Süden ausbreiten und durch dich und deine Nachkommen werden alle Sippen der Erde Segen erlangen.
I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
Siehe, ich bin mit dir, ich behüte dich, wohin du auch gehst, und bringe dich zurück in dieses Land. Denn ich verlasse dich nicht, bis ich vollbringe, was ich dir versprochen habe.
When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”
Jakob erwachte aus seinem Schlaf und sagte: Wirklich, der HERR ist an diesem Ort und ich wusste es nicht.
He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”
Er fürchtete sich und sagte: Wie Ehrfurcht gebietend ist doch dieser Ort! Er ist nichts anderes als das Haus Gottes und das Tor des Himmels.
Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it.
Jakob stand früh am Morgen auf, nahm den Stein, den er unter seinen Kopf gelegt hatte, stellte ihn als Steinmal auf und goss Öl darauf.
Dann gab er dem Ort den Namen Bet-El — Haus Got- tes — . Früher hieß die Stadt Lus.
Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear
Jakob machte das Gelübde: Wenn Gott mit mir ist und mich auf diesem Weg, den ich gehe, behütet, wenn er mir Brot zum Essen und Kleider zum Anziehen gibt,
wenn ich wohlbehalten heimkehre in das Haus meines Vaters, dann wird der HERR für mich Gott sein
