David and Mephibosheth
David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
“At your service,” he replied.
“At your service,” he replied.
Zum Haus Saul gehörte ein Knecht namens Ziba; man rief ihn zu David und der König fragte ihn: Bist du Ziba? Er antwortete: Ja, dein Knecht.
The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”
Der König fragte ihn: Ist vom Haus Saul niemand mehr am Leben, dass ich ihm göttliche Huld erweisen könnte? Ziba antwortete dem König: Es gibt einen Sohn Jonatans, der an beiden Füßen gelähmt ist.
“Where is he?” the king asked.
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
Der König sagte zu ihm: Wo ist er? Ziba antwortete dem König: Er lebt jetzt im Haus Machirs, des Sohnes Ammiëls, in Lo-Dabar.
So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
Da schickte der König David hin und ließ ihn aus dem Haus Machirs, des Sohnes Ammiëls, in Lo-Dabar holen.
When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
Als Merib-Baal, der Sohn Jonatans, des Sohnes Sauls, zu David kam, warf er sich auf sein Gesicht nieder und huldigte ihm. David sagte: Merib-Baal! Er antwortete: Hier ist dein Knecht.
“Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.”
David sagte zu ihm: Fürchte dich nicht; denn ich will dir um deines Vaters Jonatan willen eine Huld erweisen: Ich gebe dir alle Felder deines Großvaters Saul zurück und du sollst immer an meinem Tisch essen.
Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”
Da warf sich Merib-Baal nieder und sagte: Was ist dein Knecht, dass du dich einem toten Hund zuwendest, wie ich es bin?
Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family.
Der König David rief Ziba, den Diener Sauls, und sagte zu ihm: Alles, was Saul und seiner ganzen Familie gehört hat, gebe ich dem Sohn deines Herrn.
You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
Du sollst mit deinen Söhnen und Knechten für ihn das Land bebauen und ihm den Ertrag bringen, damit der Sohn deines Herrn zu essen hat. Merib-Baal aber, der Sohn deines Herrn, soll immer an meinem Tisch essen. Ziba hatte fünfzehn Söhne und zwanzig Knechte.
Ziba sagte zum König: Genauso, wie es mein Herr, der König, seinem Knecht befohlen hat, wird es dein Knecht tun. Aber Merib-Baal kann auch an meinem Tisch essen wie einer von den Königssöhnen.
Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.
Merib-Baal hatte einen kleinen Sohn namens Micha und alle, die im Haus Zibas wohnten, waren Merib-Baals Knechte.
