Elisa aber sprach: Höret des HERRN Wort! So spricht der HERR: Morgen um diese Zeit wird ein Scheffel Semmelmehl einen Silberling gelten und zwei Scheffel Gerste einen Silberling unter dem Tor zu Samaria.
The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?”
“You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”
“You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”
Da antwortete der Ritter, auf dessen Hand sich der König lehnte, dem Mann Gottes und sprach: Und wenn der HERR Fenster am Himmel machte, wie könnte solches geschehen? Er sprach: Siehe da, mit deinen Augen wirst du es sehen, und nicht davon essen!
Und es waren vier aussätzige Männer an der Tür vor dem Tor; und einer sprach zum andern: Was wollen wir hier bleiben, bis wir sterben?
If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’ — the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.”
Wenn wir gleich gedächten, in die Stadt zu kommen, so ist Teuerung in der Stadt, und wir müßten doch daselbst sterben; bleiben wir aber hier, so müssen wir auch sterben. So laßt uns nun hingehen und zu dem Heer der Syrer fallen. Lassen sie uns leben, so leben wir; töten sie uns, so sind wir tot.
At dusk they got up and went to the camp of the Arameans. When they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there,
Und sie machten sich in der Frühe auf, daß sie zum Heer der Syrer kämen. Und da sie vorn an den Ort des Heeres kamen, siehe, da war niemand.
for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired the Hittite and Egyptian kings to attack us!”
Denn der HERR hatte die Syrer lassen hören ein Geschrei von Rossen, Wagen und großer Heereskraft, daß sie untereinander sprachen: Siehe, der König Israels hat wider uns gedingt die Könige der Hethiter und die Könige der Ägypter, daß sie über uns kommen sollen.
So they got up and fled in the dusk and abandoned their tents and their horses and donkeys. They left the camp as it was and ran for their lives.
Und sie machten sich auf und flohen in der Frühe und ließen ihre Hütten, Rosse und Esel im Lager, wie es stand, und flohen mit ihrem Leben davon.
The men who had leprosy reached the edge of the camp, entered one of the tents and ate and drank. Then they took silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them. They returned and entered another tent and took some things from it and hid them also.
Als nun die Aussätzigen an den Ort des Lagers kamen, gingen sie in der Hütten eine, aßen und tranken und nahmen Silber, Gold und Kleider und gingen hin und verbargen es und kamen wieder und gingen in eine andere Hütte und nahmen daraus und gingen hin und verbargen’s.
Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”
Aber einer sprach zum andern: Laßt uns nicht also tun; dieser Tag ist ein Tag guter Botschaft. Wo wir das verschweigen und harren, bis daß es lichter Morgen wird, wird unsre Missetat gefunden werden; so laßt uns nun hingehen, daß wir kommen und es ansagen dem Hause des Königs.
So they went and called out to the city gatekeepers and told them, “We went into the Aramean camp and no one was there — not a sound of anyone — only tethered horses and donkeys, and the tents left just as they were.”
Und da sie kamen, riefen sie am Tor der Stadt und sagten’s ihnen an und sprachen: Wir sind zum Lager der Syrer gekommmen, und siehe, es ist niemand da und keine Menschenstimme, sondern Rosse und Esel angebunden und die Hütten, wie sie stehen.
The gatekeepers shouted the news, and it was reported within the palace.
Da rief man den Torhütern zu, daß sie es drinnen ansagten im Hause des Königs.
The king got up in the night and said to his officers, “I will tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know we are starving; so they have left the camp to hide in the countryside, thinking, ‘They will surely come out, and then we will take them alive and get into the city.’ ”
Und der König stand auf in der Nacht und sprach zu seinen Knechten: Laßt euch sagen, wie die Syrer mit uns umgehen. Sie wissen, daß wir Hunger leiden, und sind aus dem Lager gegangen, daß sie sich im Felde verkröchen, und denken: Wenn sie aus der Stadt gehen, wollen wir sie lebendig greifen und in die Stadt kommen.
One of his officers answered, “Have some men take five of the horses that are left in the city. Their plight will be like that of all the Israelites left here — yes, they will only be like all these Israelites who are doomed. So let us send them to find out what happened.”
Da antwortete seiner Knechte einer und sprach: Man nehme fünf Rosse von denen, die noch drinnen sind übriggeblieben. Siehe, es wird ihnen gehen, wie aller Menge Israels, so drinnen übriggeblieben oder schon dahin ist. Die laßt uns senden und sehen.
So they selected two chariots with their horses, and the king sent them after the Aramean army. He commanded the drivers, “Go and find out what has happened.”
Da nahmen sie zwei Wagen mit Rossen, und der König sandte sie dem Heere der Syrer nach und sprach: Ziehet hin und sehet!
They followed them as far as the Jordan, and they found the whole road strewn with the clothing and equipment the Arameans had thrown away in their headlong flight. So the messengers returned and reported to the king.
Und da sie ihnen nachzogen bis an den Jordan, siehe, da lag der Weg voll Kleider und Geräte, welche die Syrer von sich geworfen hatten, da sie eilten. Und da die Boten wiederkamen und sagten es dem König an,
Then the people went out and plundered the camp of the Arameans. So a seah of the finest flour sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley sold for a shekel, as the Lord had said.
ging das Volk hinaus und beraubte das Lager der Syrer. Und es galt ein Scheffel Semmelmehl einen Silberling und zwei Scheffel Gerste auch einen Silberling nach dem Wort des HERRN.
Now the king had put the officer on whose arm he leaned in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died, just as the man of God had foretold when the king came down to his house.
Aber der König bestellte den Ritter, auf dessen Hand er sich lehnte, unter das Tor. Und das Volk zertrat ihn im Tor, daß er starb, wie der Mann Gottes geredet hatte, da der König zu ihm hinabkam.
It happened as the man of God had said to the king: “About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”
Und es geschah, wie der Mann Gottes dem König gesagt hatte, da er sprach: Morgen um diese Zeit werden zwei Scheffel Gerste einen Silberling gelten und ein Scheffel Semmelmehl einen Silberling unter dem Tor zu Samaria,
The officer had said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” The man of God had replied, “You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it!”
und der Ritter dem Mann Gottes antwortete und sprach: Siehe, wenn der HERR Fenster am Himmel machte, wie möchte solches geschehen? Er aber sprach: Siehe, mit deinen Augen wirst du es sehen, und wirst nicht davon essen!
