He conscripted 70,000 men as carriers and 80,000 as stonecutters in the hills and 3,600 as foremen over them.
Dann sandte er Boten zu Hiram, dem König von Tyrus, und ließ ihm sagen: Du hast meinem Vater David geholfen und ihm Zedern geliefert, damit er sich ein Haus als Wohnung bauen konnte.
Ich möchte jetzt dem Namen des HERRN, meines Gottes, ein Haus bauen und es ihm weihen. Man soll wohlriechendes Räucherwerk vor ihm anzünden, ständig die Brote auflegen und jeden Morgen und jeden Abend, an den Sabbaten, Neumondtagen und Festen des HERRN, unseres Gottes, Brandopfer darbringen. So ist es Israel für ewige Zeiten zur Pflicht gemacht worden.
Now I am about to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense before him, for setting out the consecrated bread regularly, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening and on the Sabbaths, at the New Moons and at the appointed festivals of the Lord our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.
Das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß werden, denn unser Gott ist größer als alle Götter.
“The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.

But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?
Schick mir nun einen fähigen Mann, der Arbeiten in Gold, Silber, Bronze, Eisen, rotem Purpur, Karmesin und blauem Purpur ausführen kann und sich aufs Gravieren versteht! Er soll mit den Künstlern zusammenarbeiten, die bei mir in Juda und Jerusalem sind und die mein Vater David bestellt hat.
“Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled workers, whom my father David provided.
Liefere mir auch Zedern, Nadelbäume und Algummimholz vom Libanon! Denn ich weiß, dass deine Leute die Bäume des Libanon zu fällen verstehen. Meine Leute sollen deinen Leuten dabei helfen.
Sie sollen eine Menge Holz herrichten; denn das Haus, das ich bauen will, soll groß und wunderbar werden.

Den Arbeitern, die das Holz fällen, gebe ich zum Unterhalt für deine Knechte 20 000 Kor Weizen, 20 000 Kor Gerste, 20 000 Bat Wein und 20 000 Bat Öl.
Hiram, der König von Tyrus, antwortete Salomo in einem Schreiben, das er ihm sandte: Weil der HERR sein Volk liebt, hat er dich ihm als König gegeben.
Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon:
“Because the Lord loves his people, he has made you their king.”

“I am sending you Huram-Abi, a man of great skill,
den Sohn einer danitischen Frau. Sein Vater stammt aus Tyrus. Er versteht es, Arbeiten in Gold, Silber, Bronze, Eisen, Stein, Holz, rotem und blauem Purpur, Byssus und Karmesin auszuführen, alle Gravierungen zu besorgen und jeden Plan zu entwerfen, der ihm aufgetragen wird. Er wird mit deinen Künstlern und den Künstlern meines Herrn, deines Vaters David, zusammenarbeiten.
whose mother was from Dan and whose father was from Tyre. He is trained to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, and with purple and blue and crimson yarn and fine linen. He is experienced in all kinds of engraving and can execute any design given to him. He will work with your skilled workers and with those of my lord, David your father.
Den Weizen, die Gerste, das Öl und den Wein dagegen, von denen mein Herr gesprochen hat, möge er seinen Knechten liefern.
“Now let my lord send his servants the wheat and barley and the olive oil and wine he promised,
Wir aber werden die Bäume auf dem Libanon fällen, so viele du nötig hast, und sie dir in Flößen auf dem Meer nach Jafo schaffen. Du magst sie dann nach Jerusalem hinaufbringen.
and we will cut all the logs from Lebanon that you need and will float them as rafts by sea down to Joppa. You can then take them up to Jerusalem.”
Salomo ließ nun alle Fremden zählen, die im Land Israel wohnten, nachdem schon sein Vater David eine Zählung unter ihnen vorgenommen hatte. Es fanden sich 153 600 Mann.
