  • Psalm 37a

    Of David.

    Do not fret because of those who are evil
    or be envious of those who do wrong;
  • Do not fret because of evildoers,
    Be not envious toward wrongdoers.
  • for like the grass they will soon wither,
    like green plants they will soon die away.
  • For they will wither quickly like the grass
    And fade like the green herb.
  • Trust in the Lord and do good;
    dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
  • Trust in the LORD and do good;
    Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
  • Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.
  • Delight yourself in the LORD;
    And He will give you the desires of your heart.
  • Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him and he will do this:
  • Commit your way to the LORD,
    Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
  • He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
    your vindication like the noonday sun.
  • He will bring forth your righteousness as the light
    And your judgment as the noonday.
  • Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
    do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes.
  • Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him;
    Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
    Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
  • Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
    do not fret — it leads only to evil.
  • Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
    Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.
  • For those who are evil will be destroyed,
    but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.
  • For evildoers will be cut off,
    But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
  • A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
    though you look for them, they will not be found.
  • Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more;
    And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there.
  • But the meek will inherit the land
    and enjoy peace and prosperity.
  • But the humble will inherit the land
    And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.
  • The wicked plot against the righteous
    and gnash their teeth at them;
  • The wicked plots against the righteous
    And gnashes at him with his teeth.
  • but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
    for he knows their day is coming.
  • The Lord laughs at him,
    For He sees his day is coming.
  • The wicked draw the sword
    and bend the bow
    to bring down the poor and needy,
    to slay those whose ways are upright.
  • The wicked have drawn the sword and bent their bow
    To cast down the afflicted and the needy,
    To slay those who are upright in conduct.
  • But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
    and their bows will be broken.
  • Their sword will enter their own heart,
    And their bows will be broken.
  • Better the little that the righteous have
    than the wealth of many wicked;
  • Better is the little of the righteous
    Than the abundance of many wicked.
  • for the power of the wicked will be broken,
    but the Lord upholds the righteous.
  • For the arms of the wicked will be broken,
    But the LORD sustains the righteous.
  • The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,
    and their inheritance will endure forever.
  • The LORD knows the days of the blameless,
    And their inheritance will be forever.
  • In times of disaster they will not wither;
    in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
  • They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,
    And in the days of famine they will have abundance.
  • But the wicked will perish:
    Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
    they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.
  • But the wicked will perish;
    And the enemies of the LORD will be like the glory of the pastures,
    They vanish — like smoke they vanish away.
  • The wicked borrow and do not repay,
    but the righteous give generously;
  • The wicked borrows and does not pay back,
    But the righteous is gracious and gives.
  • those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,
    but those he curses will be destroyed.
  • For those blessed by Him will inherit the land,
    But those cursed by Him will be cut off.
  • The Lord makes firm the steps
    of the one who delights in him;
  • The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
    And He delights in his way.
  • though he may stumble, he will not fall,
    for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
  • When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,
    Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.
  • I was young and now I am old,
    yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
    or their children begging bread.
  • I have been young and now I am old,
    Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
    Or his descendants begging bread.
  • They are always generous and lend freely;
    their children will be a blessing.b
  • All day long he is gracious and lends,
    And his descendants are a blessing.
  • Turn from evil and do good;
    then you will dwell in the land forever.
  • Depart from evil and do good,
    So you will abide forever.
  • For the Lord loves the just
    and will not forsake his faithful ones.
    Wrongdoers will be completely destroyedc;
    the offspring of the wicked will perish.
  • For the LORD loves justice
    And does not forsake His godly ones;
    They are preserved forever,
    But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
  • The righteous will inherit the land
    and dwell in it forever.
  • The righteous will inherit the land
    And dwell in it forever.
  • The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
    and their tongues speak what is just.
  • The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,
    And his tongue speaks justice.
  • The law of their God is in their hearts;
    their feet do not slip.
  • The law of his God is in his heart;
    His steps do not slip.
  • The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
    intent on putting them to death;
  • The wicked spies upon the righteous
    And seeks to kill him.
  • but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
    or let them be condemned when brought to trial.
  • The LORD will not leave him in his hand
    Or let him be condemned when he is judged.
  • Hope in the Lord
    and keep his way.
    He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.
  • Wait for the LORD and keep His way,
    And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
  • I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
    flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
  • I have seen a wicked, violent man
    Spreading himself like a luxuriant tree in its native soil.
  • but he soon passed away and was no more;
    though I looked for him, he could not be found.
  • Then he passed away, and lo, he was no more;
    I sought for him, but he could not be found.
  • Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
    a future awaits those who seek peace.d
  • Mark the blameless man, and behold the upright;
    For the man of peace will have a posterity.
  • But all sinners will be destroyed;
    there will be no futuree for the wicked.
  • But transgressors will be altogether destroyed;
    The posterity of the wicked will be cut off.
  • The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
    he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
  • But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD;
    He is their strength in time of trouble.
  • The Lord helps them and delivers them;
    he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
    because they take refuge in him.
  • The LORD helps them and delivers them;
    He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
    Because they take refuge in Him.
