the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established
as the highest of the mountains;
it will be exalted above the hills,
and all nations will stream to it.

Am Ende der Zeit wird der Berg, auf dem der Tempel des HERRN steht, alle anderen Berge und Hügel weit überragen. Menschen aller Nationen strömen dann herbei.
Many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the temple of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us his ways,
so that we may walk in his paths.”
The law will go out from Zion,
the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Viele Völker ziehen los und rufen einander zu: »Kommt, wir wollen auf den Berg des HERRN steigen, zum Tempel des Gottes Israels! Dort wird er uns seinen Weg zeigen, und wir werden lernen, so zu leben, wie er es will.« Denn vom Berg Zion aus wird der HERR seine Weisungen geben, dort in Jerusalem wird er der ganzen Welt seinen Willen verkünden.

Gott selbst schlichtet den Streit zwischen den Völkern, und den vielen Nationen spricht er Recht. Dann schmieden sie ihre Schwerter zu Pflugscharen um und ihre Speere zu Winzermessern. Kein Volk wird mehr das andere angreifen; niemand lernt mehr, Krieg zu führen.

Herr, du hast dich von deinem Volk Israel abgewandt, weil sie die heidnischen Bräuche aus dem Osten übernommen haben. Sie treiben Zauberei wie ihre Nachbarn im Westen, die Philister. Bedenkenlos haben sie sich anderen Völkern angepasst.

Israel hat in jeder Hinsicht Überfluss: Das Land ist voll von Gold, Silber und anderen Schätzen; Pferde und Streitwagen sind in großer Zahl vorhanden.

Doch auch mit Götzenstatuen ist das Land übersät. Vor selbst gemachten Figuren werfen die Menschen sich nieder und beten sie an.
Verzeih ihnen das nicht! Du wirst jeden in die Knie zwingen, alle müssen sich vor dir beugen.
Go into the rocks, hide in the ground
from the fearful presence of the Lord

Ja, versteckt euch in den Höhlen, kriecht in die Erdlöcher! Denn der HERR verbreitet Furcht und Schrecken, wenn er sich in seiner Pracht und Majestät zeigt.

Es kommt der Tag, an dem der Hochmut der Menschen ein Ende hat und ihr Stolz gebrochen wird. Dann wird nur einer groß sein: der HERR!

Der allmächtige Gott hat einen Tag bestimmt, an dem er über die stolzen und hochmütigen Menschen Gericht hält und sie erniedrigt.

Alle hochgewachsenen Zedern auf dem Libanon und die mächtigen Eichen in der Baschan-Ebene wird er umhauen,
alle Handelsschiffe und prunkvollen Boote wird er versenken.

So macht er den Hochmut der Menschen zunichte. Die stolzen Herren liegen dann im Staub, und mit den Götzen ist es aus und vorbei. An diesem Tag wird nur einer groß sein: der HERR!

Wenn der HERR sich in seiner Pracht und Majestät zum Gericht erhebt und die Erde in Schrecken versetzt, fliehen seine Feinde voller Angst in die Felsenklüfte und verkriechen sich in Erdlöchern.

Sie werfen ihre silbernen und goldenen Götzenfiguren, die sie mit viel Mühe angefertigt haben, achtlos den Ratten und Fledermäusen hin,

um so schnell wie möglich in Felsspalten und Höhlen zu verschwinden. Angst und Grauen wird sie packen, wenn der HERR sich in seiner Pracht und Majestät erhebt, um Gericht zu halten.
