“Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.
Sag zum Priester Eleasar, dem Sohn Aarons, er soll die Räucherpfannen aus der Brandglut herausnehmen — das Feuer streue weit auseinander — , denn sie sind geheiligt.
On the staff of Levi write Aaron’s name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe.
Die Räucherpfannen der Männer, die wegen ihrer Sünde ums Leben gekommen sind, soll man zu Blech hämmern und damit den Altar überziehen. Denn sie wurden vor den HERRN gebracht, deshalb sind sie heilig. Sie sollen für die Israeliten ein Zeichen sein.
Place them in the tent of meeting in front of the ark of the covenant law, where I meet with you.
Da nahm der Priester Eleasar die kupfernen Räucherpfannen, welche die im Feuer Umgekommenen dargebracht hatten, und hämmerte daraus einen Überzug für den Altar
The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites.”
— ein Erinnerungszeichen für die Israeliten, dass sich kein Unbefugter, der nicht zu den Nachkommen Aarons gehört, dem HERRN nähert, um vor ihm Räucherwerk zu verbrennen, damit es ihm nicht ergeht wie Korach und seiner Gemeinde — , so wie der HERR durch Mose zu ihm geredet hatte.
So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron’s staff was among them.
Am nächsten Tag murrte die ganze Gemeinde der Israeliten über Mose und Aaron; sie sagten: Ihr habt das Volk des HERRN getötet.
Moses placed the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the covenant law.
Als sich die Gemeinde gegen Mose und Aaron versammelte und sich dem Offenbarungszelt zuwandte, siehe, da hatte die Wolke das Zelt bedeckt und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erschien.
The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.
Mose und Aaron gingen vor das Offenbarungszelt
Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the Lord’s presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each of the leaders took his own staff.
und der HERR sprach zu Mose:
The Lord said to Moses, “Put back Aaron’s staff in front of the ark of the covenant law, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious. This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die.”
Zieht euch aus der Mitte dieser Gemeinde zurück, denn ich will ihr augenblicklich ein Ende bereiten. Da warfen sich Mose und Aaron auf ihr Gesicht nieder
Moses did just as the Lord commanded him.
und Mose sagte zu Aaron: Nimm die Räucherpfanne, tu Feuer vom Altar hinein und leg Räucherwerk darauf; dann geh schnell zur Gemeinde und erwirke Sühne für sie! Denn der Zorn ist vom HERRN ausgegangen und die Plage hat begonnen.
The Israelites said to Moses, “We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!
Da nahm Aaron die Räucherpfanne, wie Mose gesagt hatte, und lief mitten in die Versammlung. Und siehe, die Plage hatte im Volk begonnen. Er legte das Räucherwerk in die Pfanne und erwirkte Sühne für das Volk.
