“Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff.
і до Елеазара, сина Аарона-священика: Зберіть мідні кадильниці з-поміж спалених, а цей чужий вогонь розсипте там, бо освятилися
On the staff of Levi write Aaron’s name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe.
кадильниці цих грішників ціною їхніх душ. І зробіть з них ковані пластинки для покриття жертовника, адже їх приносили перед Господа, тож вони освятилися і стали знаком для ізраїльських синів.
Place them in the tent of meeting in front of the ark of the covenant law, where I meet with you.
І Елеазар, син Аарона-священика, взяв мідні кадильниці, які поприносили ті, хто згорів, і вони настелили їх на покриття жертовника, —
The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites.”
на згадку ізраїльським синам, щоб хтось сторонній, який не є нащадком Аарона, не підходив, щоб класти ладан перед Господом, аби не сталося з ним так, як з Коре і його бунтівною громадою, — як і сказав Господь через посередництво Мойсея.
So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron’s staff was among them.
А наступного дня ізраїльські сини нарікали на Мойсея та Аарона, кажучи: Ви вигубили Господній народ!
Moses placed the staffs before the Lord in the tent of the covenant law.
І сталося, коли громада зійшлася разом проти Мойсея і Аарона, і накинулася на намет свідчення, — аж ось його покрила хмара, і з’явилася Господня слава.
The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds.
Мойсей та Аарон вийшли на передню сторону намету свідчення.
Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the Lord’s presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each of the leaders took his own staff.
І Господь заговорив до Мойсея і Аарона, кажучи:
The Lord said to Moses, “Put back Aaron’s staff in front of the ark of the covenant law, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious. This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die.”
Відділіться від цієї громади, і Я вигублю їх враз! І вони впали на свої обличчя.
Moses did just as the Lord commanded him.
І Мойсей сказав Ааронові: Візьми кадильницю, поклади в неї вогню з жертовника і насип на нього ладану, і неси швидко в табір, і помолися за них! Бо вийшов з-перед Господа гнів, щоб почати знищувати народ.
The Israelites said to Moses, “We will die! We are lost, we are all lost!
І взяв Аарон, як і сказав йому Мойсей, та побіг до табору. А вже почалося вигублення народу. Тож він насипав ладану і помолився за народ.
